    Season 58 Update:

    Season 57 objectives:

    1 - CECIL cup progression.

    failed again.

2 - Promotion, although a distracting SESL cup run again wouldnt be the worst thing.

failed. Everything was just largely a disapointment last season.

Last season was a stinker all round. We always bottled it in the CECIL cup and kept up that tradition. League we were poor as well, flirting with relegation most of the season. Must be a bit of a record us fitting into the only 4 spots with no promotion or relegation implications 2 seasons on the trot. Hopefully we manage to go up the table a bit this season. Not checked the stats of the division this year so unsure where we stand but we do have 1 top keeper and 3 top forward players so hopefully they do the business.

Funds wise we struggled last season, we can compete with the participation due to the ongoing family life but will look to spend a bit wiser this year to avoid a last minute rush to make sure we get to 2000. The divisional auctions were always a cash drain for us and they appear to be a thing of the past so that should be a saving straight away.

    Season 58 Objectives:

    1) CECIL cup progression

    2) Promotion & a more comfortable financial season.

    Season 57 Update:

    Season 56 Objectives:

    1) Get further in the CECIL cup, early exit isnt beneficial. - FAILED, first round exit again. Must do better in season 57 (narrator - we didnt).

    2) Be there or there abouts for promotion, need the division 1 gravy train. - ended up being closer to relegation but extenuating circumstances for that as we made the final of the SESL cup and that quickly became the priority.

2nd season back and we made the SESL cup final, very lucky with the draw but some determination (aggression) made sure of a few results against some good opposition. Really enjoyed beating the ball control after switching up our normal tactics. The cup run was a boost to the coffers but starting worse off than last season isnt ideal. Will have to make some difficult decisions on who does and doesnt get resources.

Havent checked the division stats but assuming we are there or there abouts in terms of promotion possibilities. Its again got to be a bit of a priority as we dont want to get stuck in division 2.

    Season 57 objectives:

1 - CECIL cup progression - failed again.

2 - Promotion, although a distracting SESL cup run again wouldnt be the worst thing.

    Season 56 Update:

    Season 55 Objectives

1 - try get one extra cup game (done - got 2 if memory serves)

    2 - improve top-11 / top-17 of squad (done)

Overall a decent first season back, promoted which wasnt really expected at the start of the season. Could have likey gone up in the auto places but was trying to play for a better bosman as the title was well out of the question. Nice to beat Brechin due to the real life teams being in the Highland League and Brechin being a bit too big for the boots. We managed to train and sell a couple of players which boosted the coffers nicely, full CP / TP purchase and cash left over is a decent place to be.

Promotion again isnt likey outwith the realms of possibility, some amount of good sides / gaffers in Division 2 so going to have to earn promotion this season. At least we dont have to train up a keeper at the moment, in good shape for contending at least. Trading wise I was feeling left out after the initial rush and seen the opportunity to switch the 4/19 MF for 4/19 DF so took that one, hoping to move on the 1/12 MA bosman but only for the right price.

    Season 56 Objectives:

    1) Get further in the CECIL cup, early exit isnt beneficial.

    2) Be there or there abouts for promotion, need the division 1 gravy train.

    Season 55 Update:

A big rebuild for the returning

Been a while, squad isnt in the worst shape, need a bit of work to get into my preferred shape and that will require some wheeling and dealing. Managed to get 2 deals over the line already, another in the pipeline and the first apprentice through the door. Swapping out our 2/21 MF for the 3/26 MF and then 3/23 FW for a 4/26 FW aged the squad a bit more but also improved it. The 0/8 DF will bring a lot of quality to the squad for a few seasons, the 0/5 FW wont be with us for long but will help with long term improvements.

    Season 55 Objectives

1 - try get one extra cup game

    2 - improve top-11 / top-17 of squad

Real-life Nairn County F.C. are a senior football club who currently play in the Highland Football League.

They were founded in 1914 and play at Station Park, Nairn. To avoid any confusion the below is actually Mosset Park Forres, Nairn in the black the away team that day. I played (badly) a few times on this park many, many years ago prior to my knee not fancying carrying my weight anymore.

The team colours are yellow and black and go by the nickname of the Wee County.

Nairn County were reformed in 1914 and joined the Highland League in 1919. Their only league title was in the 1975–76 season, which they won after a play-off in extra time against Fraserburgh at Borough Briggs, Elgin.

    Coach's Bio: Richard Burnett

    Season 58:

Bleak midwinter in the Granite City. Golfing is limited to playing on a device and gardening is limited to tidying up and waiting for the daffodils and other such spring bulbs to appear. Gone for it this winter on the daffodil front, greenhouse full of planted bulbs of all sorts of varieties. Theres a show at the end of March in the city that I will hopefully get a few cut flowers or pots entered into. Roped in my eldest 2 as well so they can enter the kids competitions.

On the not of eldest 2, 3rd child and 3rd son was born in September. Life is a bit full on now with the 3 of them to look after and also dusted off the coaching gear to start coaching the elder 2s football teams. Youngest started and then the eldest caught the bug and the only way to get him a team was to get involved myself. Angeball taking a bit of a hit recently, hopefully when i look back at this in 6 months time it will be long forgotten with the team getting injured players back and them stopping playing like plugs.

Managed along to watch a couple of Nairn games this season so far. Horsed at Banks o Dee and then destroyed Inverurie which was nice as I was beginning to think I had become a jinx. Ross Tokely is the gaffer these days which should be a name recognised by those with an awareness of Scottish football recent history.

    Season 57:

Midsummer now so golfing and gardening galore. Shot a 74 gross the other week which is my lowest ever round, followed up by a 93 the next days shows it was a bit of a fluke and the impact the actual course has as well. Relatively easy parkland course with little to no hazards followed up by a very difficult renowned links course. Gardening is pots, potatoes and pumpkins galore, doing a sunflower competition with the bairns although i've done everything apart from putting the seed in the pot and the flower in the ground.

Football wise got to see AngeBall in person when Spurs played Hearts as part of their 150th celebrations. Strong side the first half with the first teamers not overly exerting themselves and then the kids running the show in the 2nd half. Battered them 5-1 and should have been by more. Still need to get down to the new White Hart Lane but cant see that happening for a few years yet.

    Season 56:

Not much has changed since the last update, its been winter here which means going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark. Thats about 40% true as I work from home 3 days a week. Still its been a long windy winter both from the storms and having 2 young males in the house, honestly house stinks of fart. Got out golfing last week for the 1st time since October so looking forward to more of that. Will be grafting out in the garden again in the coming weeks / months, clocks will be going forward soon enough to bring back the light nights.

Football wise, still enjoying Ange Ball. Been to watch the real Nairn County a couple of times this season but both times theyve lost so feeling like a bad omen as theyve been fairly decent this season. Scotland in a major finals this summer as well which is magical, best I'll be doing is watching from the house. Vowed never to go back to a Scotland game after heading down to Hampden in the Craig Levein era as we scraped a 95th minute win over Liechtenstien.

    Season 55:
    Home Sweet Home

    NAI 1. Richard Burnett (S10-12)

    NAI 2. Richard Burnett (S17-22)

NAI 3. Richard Burnett (S55 onwards)

Older, Fatter and none the wiser. Born in Nairn but probably technically an Aberdonian now as I've lived here more than half my life. Married for a couple of years now, life is the children and the dog. Play golf occasionally and starting to enjoy football again - Ange Ball. Enjoy pottering about in the garden as well, dabble in fruit and veg and had some winners at a local garden show.
