    About Fraserburgh

    Season 61 Update.

FRA need to halt the slide

Last season Fraserburgh finished 6th  in the league. This was a drop of 4 places from the previous season . For the second season in a row the recruitment was really not great. 2 seasons of bad recruitment are very hard to correct and is going to lead to long term weakness. I fully expect to be fighting a relegation battle or 3 in the next few seasons. This sort of poor recruitment is going to ensure we are not competing for the div 1 title for a long time yet.

My team top 11 and top 17 SL average is continues to languish in mid table, which is very sad for me..  Even though  I seem to be able to outperform My SL numbers in gameplay better players on the pitch is essential to  remaining a competitive D1 team.

I  still have not won any silverware with Fraserburgh . To be honest I cant see this correcting anytime soon. Fraserburgh are starting to be seen as a serious and consistent first division team, which is I suppose some meagre consolation to the trophy draught. The emergence of Dundee who have started, to, and look like continuing to hoover up most of the trophies does not help.Luckily they were helld to second in the league last season though I wouldnt hold my breath for it to happen again in S61

But at least I am really enjoying playind SESL which is the main reason why I participate.

The club were formed in 1910 and play at Bellslea Park. Prior to 1910, they played as a select side made up of the best players from the local amateur league. The club's colours (consisting of black and white stripes) were acquired from a local fish merchant who had links with Newcastle United, and the tradition has since been kept, with the current away kit consisting of a sky blue shirt, white shorts and sky blue socks Fraserburgh's first ever match was an away tie in the Scottish Qualifying Cupagainst rivals Peterhead, which Fraserburgh won 3–1. In their very first season they went on to win the Aberdeenshire Cup, defeating Buckie Thistleat Pittodrie Stadium.

    Coach's Bio: Alon Atie

    Season 61

I am 58 years old.I have grown up and  lived in South Africa all of my life. The dreaded 60  is approaching way to fast for my liking though.

As the SESL seasons follow  quickly on each other, which I do appreciate, however it does mean that the changes to ones personal life and Bio are often not that signifigant.

As a lifelong Liverpool fan last season was tremendous with Arno Slot in his first season as manager getting us back on our perch by winning the premier league and getting us back to a joint top 20 titles of the English highest division. We now need one more to overtake Manchester United. This season we have not continued the progress though and just qualifying for Europe will be an achievement.

A few months ago , South Africa qualified for the world test cricket championship at Lords,so my two brothers and I took my father to watch .Test cricket is a strange sport with the game lasting up to 5 full days. We were really fortunate in that it was a close game with fortunes constantly changing, and then SA getting an against the odds win against Australia. It was a really cooladventure for us to take my father on as he is now 82, even though a very fit 82.

I studied law at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, but that is not the career I followed. I  import watches ,glasses frames  and Corporate gifts into South Africa.  I have always worked in the same business which I started whilst still in University and as it has always done relatively well I have a lot to be greatful for.

As South Africans our best sport is Rugby having won 4 of the last 8 world cups. We also had a great season in 2024 ending as easily the top rated team in the world. We also repeated this in 2025 only losing 2 games, Though the loss against Australia I was unfortunately the only one I witnessed live.. We made the last cricket T20 final, but as yet have never won a cricket world cup. There is a new T20 world cupstarting today. Our soccer team has been pathetic for years, but we did make the last 4 of the african cup of nations last season which is our best performance in a long time. We have also qualified for this years world cup in the Americas. Despite being a Liverpool fan, I also have a soft spot for Barcelona in La Liga, which is also great at the moment as they are playing some very entertaining soccer and have also just won La Liga.

I have played online games for many years and really enjoy them. I play MSWL united and had a good run in the old MSWL .SESL is the only Olmec game I play at the moment.

Besides these leagues I am also a big fan of the soccer prediction games like Fantasy football  and Superbru. I thus run a mini prediction league on the message board in SESL.

I had a brilliant run in Fantasy football 3 years ago finishing in the top 1000 out of 9 million so I also won several of my mini leagues as well. My kids also enjoy fantasy so it is a great family bonding activity. As you can imagine a lot of pressure to make sure I beat them every year.

I enjoy movies and series on TV, My favourite director is Quentin Tarintino.

I  have 3 children Alexia(25),Mischa(21) and Ethan (18) .   Alex studied film but is currently working in my company and doing very well. ,whilst Mischa is studying sound engineering this year. Ethan ijust completed his last year of school.. He is taking a gap year this year, and will study next year.. It feels weird that all 3 of my kids are now adults.

My kids and I have a lot in common which is very fortunate as it makes family time great. I still have a very good relationship with my ex which is important as we do have the 3 kids together. I took Mischa  with on My trip to Dubai last year, which she really enjoyed and was a great bonding time for us.

For recreation I play bridge, read(though in recent years this has become more like listen), and hang out with friends and my kids. For exercise I tend to run in the mornings.
I am very blessed in that I lead a very good life and I try to be appreciative .
