Season 54
Division 1 - Champions
CECEIL Cup - John Beaton in Semis
SESL Cup - Didn't go deep
The Season 54 title was sweet after the dramitc return, resulting in 3 in a row.
Can we keep the run going for 55 ?!?!?!
SESL CELTIC under-achieving finally changed from season 48
Season 53 update: Jan 2023
The aim again is top 3 finish in Div 1.
Need to make progress in the Cups for extra gate receipts, and thankfully the SESL cup was delivered in season 49 & 50
Going for a Cecil cup run the plan in S53
4th in table was ok S51, champs S52, and defo top 3 achieveable in S53. .
Season 51 update:
ahead of season 51 kicking off May 2022,
and the aim is top 3 finish in Div 1.
Need to make progress in the Cups for extra gate receipts, and thankfully the SESL cup was delivered in season 49 - after 35 seasons of hurt!
Season 50 so the sesl cup held aloft for 2nd season in a row.
Going for a cup treble now.
Winning Div 2 was an achievement as MOT were hot favourites for much of the season 49.
Was out of CECIL cup before league games in season 49 had even started, so that has to improve in season 51.
Roster a little light on numbers, so 2 or 3 auction wins are the aim, and surprised some teams prefer a big bank balance rather than big SL on the pitch.
Season 48: New manager New hope.
Starting in Div 3 so the only way is up. Not a lot of cash, so trading will be main focus to try achieve success in short term.
Need to make progress in the Cups for extra gate receipts.
In last 28 seasons CEL have made the last 16 stage of Sesl cup just ONCE. Humiliating stat.
Season 47: Thankfully remained in DV2 via the playoff. Not only just the playoff but a penalty shoot-out. Talk about cutting it fine. Excellent start to Season 46 was the only reason CEL stayed up. This season? Another long, hard season. Potentially take the season to rebuild, utilise the oldies for youth scheme and try make CEL as much money as possible. Happliy take mid-table, stress-free obscurity right now.
Season 46: Well season 45 was a massive disappointment. At midway point it looked like CEL would just about stay out of trouble; then MSA came along. No wins in about 11, one win in 15 resulted in play off game to stay up. Disasterous 1st half and CEL would be relegated. Season 46 aspirations...quite simply promotion. Nothing else will do. Core of a decent team, mixture of youth and oldies. Time to really invest in the squad and not only secure promotion but build for Season 47.
Season 45: Firstly, review of season 44. Champions of Division 2!!!!! Pushed all the way by a very impressive FAL team. 1 defeat all season in the league says it all. Season 45 needs to be consolidation first; ensure we stay clear of relegation and/or the play-offs. If mid-table looks safe then focus on the SESL cup. Continue to bring in new youngsters and participate in some auction activity.
Season 44: Celtic need to be challenging for the title, very minimum in the hunt for promotion.
Season 55: November 2023
After accepting the unexpected offer to return to Paradise, the season that was, ended with Celtic as Champions!
It went down to wire, but we got our just rewards and Celtic now have 3 in Row!
Our Cup runs weren't as long as we would have liked as we failed to make either final.
Room for improvent there!
Season 55 here we come!
This Season will be my 45th as a SESL manager and durign my time I've been lucky enough to win all the major titles.
I dragged my family off to Melbourne 11 years ago and as yet, haven't had anyone kicking or screaming for a return to East Kilbride.
I've been involved in the Water Treatment game now for 25 years, same, same but different over here!
And now summer is coming!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Season 54: June 2023
Bill Nicholl dramatically returns to CEL.
Previously CEL boss season 14 all way thru to season 43.
A Scot living in Melbourne Australia. Bit of a change from East Kilbride in Lanarkshire.
ex CEL boss Dean was apparently getting dogs abuse from couple other managers so quit before the Board of Directors clamped down on him for returning any verbals!
