Ok now to SESL updates
Season 57
Well St Mirren did not mange to stay up and return to division thre after ending up 14 at the end of last season. The club must now hit the ground running to get themselves back up into division 2.
The squad is an aging group of players and will need a total rebuild to get the club moving in the right direction. To this end the club are looking to bring in several younger players and release some of the older one on the squad. This plan is long term and may well take a couple of season to get ton we're the club want to be. The chairman has backed the manager and has said there will be some money to help the club get back to were they belong.
Season 56
St Mirren mannered to get themselves promoted by the play-offs. They mannered to keep themselves in the shake up even thought there form did drop off towards the end of the season. They will now face the difficult task of avoiding dropping straight back down to the third division.
The team is itself have a good mix of players but will need to try and bring in a couple of new player to blooster the team. There once again is not too much spare cash at the club to do deals so the fans may well see players departing as well as joining the team. There are a few players who will benefit form training up and the club will need them to step up to the plate this year.
Season 55
Well as the new season approaches St Mirrens fans still see there beloved team sitting in the bottom division following another disappointing performance last year. In fact the teams points total for last season is the lowest for several years. The Fans most now be wondering how much longer the present management team are going got be given to the team promoted.
Looking forward to the new season the team does look to be in a slightly better position than last year, there is the core of a good team. The main issue is the quality of the depth of the squad. When the team has to rest players there are not the quality players to fill the gaps. This like last year will be the main problem for the manager as he looks to plot a way back into the higher divisions. There is not the cash at the club to bring in rotational players of a good level so once again he will have to try and target games which he thinks the team have a better chance of winning. Hopefully the team can pick up enough points in this way to get into promotion contention.
Season 54
After a late loss of form at the end of last season that saw the team drop out of the promotion race St Mirren will star another season in the bottom division. This situation of ending up mid table is starting to seem the norm for the team now and something will have to change a the club if this streak is to be broken. Some say it is time for a change at the top of the club with rumours that the club could soon be up for sale, but there is no formal offers on the table. The manager is also under some pressure to get the club moving in the right direction but the directors seem to be sticking with him.
So what can the fans hope for this year the club has a few star players but on the whole is lacking in a few areas the club are trying to bring in a few players but the club have said there is no fresh money only what can be generated from player sales. This could mean another season of hope which will be dashed at the end of the season.
Season 53
Another season has come and gone and once again St Mirren have not shown any signs of getting into the promotion slots. The team once agian sit mid table and fans must wonder if they will ever see there beloved team get it self out of the bottom tier of the the leagues. They must also be wondering how long the clubs directors will allow White and his staff to stay in position with this long run of poor showing.
The team itself looks to have agood starting eleven but lacks depth in several areas when the first choice players are not available. With small amount of funds they have this looks likely to be the same as the last few seasons.
season 52.
St Mirren again were unable to get high enough up the league to gain promotion. There were good early season lead to some hope that they could get into the mix but they faded badly in the later part of the campaign. The team are still trying to lower the age of the squad but fans are now getting more unsettled and the management team know that they must at least challenge this season or may find themselves out of a job.
It will be a must for the team to get the younger player up to speed sand get off to a good start to the season,
Season 51
St Mirren had an OK season they finished slightly higher up the league table by two places to finish 9th. The team age is also going in the right direction and they have a good core group of players. The team also have a small budget to bring in at least two more players. The team will hope to at least make the the play offs this season. The manager has et this as his minimum aim. The fans will hope the team have reached the turning point and now can only be on the up.
Season 58
I still find it difficult to see how I fitted in all the stuff I used toi do when I was at work. I never seem to have anymore spare time now that i am retired to when I was at work as there always seems to be something to do. The only thing I have noticed is we do have more holidays as you can book at last minute and get the better deals.
Really enjoying watching Aston Villa in the Champions League and with 4 wins from 6 games it looks like we could claim one of the automatic places into the next round. We would have been even closer if Mings had not given away the silly penalty. But on the whole an enjoyable return to European football. We drop seem to be struggling a little more in the league but I think this is not uncommon with teams that are fight on lots of fronts and we have had several injuries as well.
