    Season 62....A young GK and a MF would be useful but most of all for EDI to bounce straigt back from relegation.

    About Edinburgh City

    *SEASON 62*

    After just a single season in Division 1, EDI succumbed to relegation back to Division 2. During the off-season the manager looked long and hard at the squad and came to the conclusion that the quality of the players was not the problem but the balance of the squad meant that tactically EDI were very one-dimensional and that was holding the team back. As a consequence, staeps have been taken to rectify that and during the course of this and next season that problem will be corrected.

    The main aim for the new season will be a quick return to Division 1 but as the second Division is always such a tough one that may be easier said than done.

    *SEASON 61*

    EDI managed to win the Division 2 title with a stunning run of form in the final 10 games of the Season 60 league campaign. Winning 9/10 games and drawing the other one. It was enough to take the title but only by the slimmest of margins from ELG and ALO who were probably favorites to take the title but for the run-in form of EDI.

    So, its back in Division 1 for my lads and after my earlier experiences of being in Division 1, i am fully aware of what a tough task it will be. Survival will be tough enough but much better to come out with 'All guns blazing' and we will see where we are at mid-season and reassess at that stage. EDI will look to continue with our youth policy and promote 2 players form the youth academy up to the full squad as per previous seasons.

    The manager who has never really enjoyed a Cup run in all the seasons he has managed in SESL would dearly love to alter that but again, the league campaign must and will take priority. Finances will again need to be looked after and a tight check will be adhered to this season.

    *SEASON 60*

    Well, here we are again and EDI will be spending a second season back in Division 2. As with last season, EDI will be adding two youth players to the first team squad along with a 'Bosman' signing. We will be seriously looking to put together a real Cup run in either the Cecil Cup or the SESL Cup depending how the draws for each Cup competitions work out in favour of EDI or as with last season....against EDI. The top priority will again be PROMOTION to Division 1 as again we feel that the squad is strong enough but unlike last season, we have more room to adjust tactically and the manager hopes that the difference will help bigtime. Expect EDI to be far more pro-active this time around.

    *SEASON 59*

    Here we are at the start of another NEW season and EDI find themselves back in Division 2 after ending last season as runners-up in Division 3. Statistically EDI look in good shape for the new campaign and hopes are high that the team can have another good league run. The manager hopes to make a few slight adjustments to the shape of the squad allowing him to exploit some different tactics this season. EDI will be adding two youth players to the first team squad along with a 'Bosman' signing. It is hoped that the team can play this season with a slightly larger squad and ease the pressure on some of the veterans. The club will also look to do better in one or other of the CUP competitions this season.

    *SEASON 58*

    EDI have been in free fall for the last two seasons and now find themselves back in Division 3 for the start of the new season. The good news is that EDI have the youngest squad in the entire league but the teams T11 and T17 both look very competitive in comparison to the rest of the Division 3 teams. The bad news is that with the recent and upcoming changes within SESL, the clubs finances with be far more difficult to control but at least the manager will be able to spend more time concentrating on EDI alone. In the pre-season, EDI have added a young FW and apprentices at DF and MF which signals the completion of the teams 'Rebuild'.

    *SEASON 57*

    Last season quickly became a struggle as it was soon very evident that the EDI squad was simply not robust enough and clearly not strong enough to survive for much longer in Division 1. The decision to go into 'Rebuild' was not taken lightly as it meamt relegation and also several seasons of struggle in the lower divisions. So EDI are expecting another season of battling to avoid relegation even though we are now back in Division 2. As for the 'Rebuild', that will continue apace as the new squad continues to take shape while the manager looks to juggle bringing in new young talent and at the same time keeping the clubs finances in a strong position for the start of the following season and the next stage of the 'Rebuild'.

    *SEASON 56*

    Season 55 turned out to be a re-run of Season 54 with EDI avoiding the relegation play-offs by the smallest of margins in the last game of the league campaign. All things considered though, EDI are in a stronger position going into the new campaign and with plenty of resouces available to the manager, hopes are slightly higher that the team can improve on 10th place in the league table. EDI will again add 2 youth players to the full squad and the manager will again pay serious attention to the clubs finances and with that in mind a Cup run will also be a priority this time round.

    *SEASON 55*

    Last seasons aim was survival and that was only achieved on the very last day of the season with six points and also help from other results elsewhere. The teams finances were also improved slightly compared to many previous seasons something that needed serious improvement on to be fair. This seasons target will be very similar in terms of the league campaign, although mid-table security would be the ideal scenario this time around. Again, the teams financial situation will need to be improved on if we wish to continue to compete in Division 1 going forward. In regard to the squad, we will look to bring in 1 or 2(max) young players at some point in the season.

    *SEASON 54*

    A terrific season for EDI culminated in promotion to Division 1 as Champions but only by the finest of margins and on the very last day of the season. The squad is now in better shape and hopes are high that the team can survive in the rarified atmostphere of the top division. The teams finances are finally where the manager wants them to be which allows him to bring in the resources that the team will badly need this season. The manager will also be looking to add some depth to the squad through the youth academy system at some stage this upcoming league campaign. Survival will be this seasons number 1 aim.

    *SEASON 53*

    EDI avoided relegation but it took a play-off victory to do so. Season 52 proved to be a very frustrating season but hopefully the manager has learned some valuable lessons along the way. On the upside, EDI are still in Division 2 and the squad is where the manager wants it to be while at the same time the clubs finances are finally looking slightly rosier. EDI will start season 53 with the 11th best T11 which will ensure another challenging season to come but hopes are high that the team can take a major step forward now.

    *SEASON 52*

    After hovering in and around the Division 2 promotion positions for almost the entire Season, EDI could not manage to pull it off but that was probably for the best as the team was not really ready for the step up to Division 1. However, the roster is now taking on a more balanced appearance and with a few choice additions i think we will be better placed for the new season. Also, particular attention will be paid to increasing the teams finances by the end of the campaign to set the club on a good footing going forward. The aim must be to gain promotion this season if EDI can manage to get off to a decent start in the league.

    * SEASON 51 *

    Season number 2 of the Edinburgh City rebirth went far better than expected with the team winning promotion to Division 2. The clubs finances also took a slight upturn which was pleasing considering a lot of effort was put into strengthening the squad and at the same lowering the average age of the squad to managable levels with a view to the future.  The current T11 and T17 suggest we should be competitive this season but survival will be our main aim and give the young squad time to mature tbh

    Coach's Bio: William Bushby

    *SEASON 62*

    It seems i have finally settled in Eastbourne and my nomadic younger days are now firmly behind me. For no particular reason i seem to be less involved in what has probably been one of my major interests in my life, namely Horse racing. Partly the spectre of 'Affordability checks' looming in the near future but also poor value in recent years on 'Ante-post' betting which was always my main thing. Oh well, nothing lasts forever and i'm sure i will find a new and different outlet for my brain to focus on in the future. SESL will continue to partially keep my mind occupied and hopefully i will stumble across a more consistant and successful way of playing the game with EDI.

    *SEASON 61*

    Little changes here in Eastbourne but i still retain a healthy enthusiasm for playing SESL and especially EDI....and i still miss the days when the team was previously names 'BUCKIE THISTLE' but hey-ho. those days are now behind us LOL.

    In my private life, again very little changes but as we approach spring and March in particular my thoughts tend to focus on the 'Cheltenham festival' in regard to my Ante-Post betting vouchers. Hopefully the Horses will be kind to me as i do have a few potential bets that would certainly keep me in beer for the rest of the year if only i can get2 or 3 of those runners over the line in front. Fingers crossed.

    *SEASON 60*

    More of the same on a personal level, still in Eastbourne, still retired and still trying to make sense of SESL in terms of success. Since the last time i posted on this part of the SESL site, i have been fortunate enough to have some fair success with my Ante-post betting and i am very pleased to report that i currently have a very decent portfolio of Ante-post bets going forward with the National hunt season in mind and especially the 'Cheltenham' festival and Grand National. I already have a few betting slips for the 1000G and 2000G going on but i will be seriously cutting back from that point on. That is simply a personal choice as i am not getting the same buzz out of it anymore. of course that may or may not change going forward lol.

    *SEASON 59*

    On the personal front, not much has changed since the lasy time i updated my BIO. I have been spending more time studying form(Horse racing) and as a consequence my results have improved a fair bit. I am not aiming to get rich quick but it is always more fun to win than lose lol.  After my eye surgery, my sight is now A1 at distance although i still need glasses for reading but all round it is far better and i am happy with it . I am looking forward to the NEW SESL season back in Division 2 and believe EDI will at the least be competitive at that level.

    * SEASON 58 *

    Still residing in Eastbourne and i have recently had eye surgery to remove cataracts from both eyes. The result is that i can actually see my laptop clearly again. Whether that will help or hinder my ability to manage EDI is debatable LOL. I have decided that i will be less active on the SESL site in the coming seasons although that decision was not strictly of my choosing. Looking forward to managing a winning team again real soon.

    *SEASON 57*

    I seem to have firmly taken root here in Eastbourne and that is probably a good thing for me. Sadly age is catching up with me as it does for us all and that is another reason to stay settled where i am now. SESL is now the only online game that i play but it was always the one i enjoyed the most. I said last season that i was going to concentrate more time to study my racing interests and that is starting to pays dividends but only to relatively small stakes. I still like a little wager on the Golf(DP Tour only) and manage to find a couple of good priced winners each year which covers my total outlay so is entertainment for free.

    *SEASON 56*

    On a personal level, very little has changed in the last 6 months or so but i am currently looking at a couple of projects to help pass the time and make life somewhat more interesting. The main one at the moment is betting which i have always enjoyed, mainly Horses but also Golf. I am currently spending much more time on study and research which are things that are time consuming but enjoyable to me. I am really looking forward to the Cheltenham festival in particular for which i already have several interesting Ante-post vouchers.

    *SEASON 55*

    Here we are on the verge of another SESL  season and my enthusiasm for it still burns brightly. I am still residing here in Eastbourne and slowly getting to the stage where i think that i may be here to stay. WHU continue to do what WHU have always done......flashes of brilliance but very average for the most part to be brutally honest. Otherwise its all same old, same old here on the Sussex coast.

    *SEASON 54*

    I seem to have taken root in Eastbourne these days and to be fair, its not a bad place to live. I'm happily enjoying retirement and long may it last. WHU finally delivered another trophy after so many frustrating years of waiting, hopefully a sign of better things to come. Declan Rice will be very much missed but one player never makes a team but i would certainly prefer that he stayed and followed in the foot steps of Bobby Moore and Billy Bonds and achieved true Legendary status for the 'Irons'. Sadly that now looks like just 'another bubble, that like my dreams will fade and die'. True WHU fans are nothing if not dreamers and as a fan for about 60 years and counting....I will continue to dream on.

    *SEASON 53*

    Last October finally saw me officially retire if i am honest i have to say i am somewhat more relaxed about most things these days. No great plans or exciting adventures are in the pipeline but i do find i am simply more chilled out in general as a consequence. I now also have more time to study and research the hobbies and pastimes that i do have in greater depth and that is something i have always enjoyed.  Time will tell whether that is a good thing or not and in regard to EDI....hopefully a better prepared team ?

    *SEASON 52*

    As mentioned last season, Retirement beckons shortly(mid October) and as i'm sure most people can appreciate that is a big deal for me personally, not just the number but a complete change of lifestyle to a degree. I am still a devout WHU fan and its good to see the Irons far more competitive and consistant in recent seasons. I also still follow the 49ers in the NFL and play 'Gridiron' online which i enjoy alongside EDI in SESL.  The team building aspect of the online games appeals to my nature greatly. I am also an occasional Chess player at a decent level when i put my mind to it.

    * SEASON 51 *

    Well, Season 50 was a blast with 2 good cup runs added to winning the Division 3 title. Again, financial stability will be very high on the agenda throughout the season but as already stated, survival in Division 2 this season will be the number 1 priority.  At least we will start the new season with a few more resources than at this time last season and will hope to add to the squad if and when finances allow.

    On a personal level its a case of same-old, same-old here on the south coast. By the time this season enters the history books....yours truly should 'officially' be an OAP,  well thats the plan anyway. I am really looking forward to the new season and its new and different challenges in Division 2.
