    About Arbroath

Season 56 - Cameron Archibald Takes Charge

Well it looks a case of back to normal service last season when looking at Team History.
Staying in Div 1 by a whisker in 12th spot.
Sitting at the managers desk March 2024 and team squad is ok actually.
Goal Keeper position is a major concern.  6/22 GK can still do a job.   8/4 GK however certainly can not.

Seven senior players age 5 or above will need looked at.

Can I pull a rabbit from the hat or unearth a gem of a player. It will be an interesting season and a challenge seeing how I get on.

Is relegation a distinct possibility.   Only time will tell.  Rivals are Dundee, Raith & Aberdeen.

Season 55 - Still a Work in Progress

We performed very well last season despite a thin roster, finishing in sixth place. Unfortunately, the situation has only gotten worse after post-season aging, so this season will be another challenging one. I'm still working out how best to budget and how best to recruit players to bring more depth to the squad. I'll have to figure that out pretty soon to stay competitive.

Season 54 - This Will Take a While

The rebuild continues at Gayfield Park, and it promises to be a lengthy process. We have several aging players rapidly declining, not much youth to fill in behind them, and a light bank account that will hamper our ability to bring in reinforcements. So it looks like it'll be another season of battling to avoid the drop. Our T-11 is 10th in Division 1, and our T-17 is 8th, and I think somewhere in there is where we'll land when all is said and done.

Season 53 - Jason Halpin Takes Charge

I'm excited to be taking on a new challenge in SESL. We're only a couple of seasons removed from a title, and while there's some quality in the squad, there is plenty of work to do to rebuild and develop the team to be a championship contender.

    Season 53 - Yawn

Last season was a bit of a yawn fest after an initial good start. We fell away quite dramatically and ended in mid table obscurity. I actually went for it in one of the Cups only to be defeated at home! Bit embarrassing after putting in the effort. The Cups are clearly not for me......which leaves the league....we're going to struggle. The team/squad is weak now, by my reckoning we have a decent enough starting keeper (no back up whatsoever), 1 decent defender with a promising youngster, 1 decent midfielder, 1 decent winger with a promising youngster and 3 decent forwards....7 players does not make a team. It's definitely going to be a long hard slog and one which could end in disaster! Yep, it's all doom and gloom :)

T11 has us 10th, T17 has us 15th!!! And there you have it. Tells you all you need to know.

It's gonna be a very tough season

    A bit about me:

I'm an attorney based in New Jersey, where I live with my wife Elizabeth and our three boys - Declan, Ronan, and Kiernan. I briefly played an Olmec soccer manager game many years ago and just returned to such games about a year ago in MSWL.

In real life, I support the New York Red Bulls and Queens Park Rangers. I became a QPR fan through doing a work experience in the club's press relations department while in college. I wrote a lot of articles for the QPR website and match-day program, including manager Ian Holloway's match-day column. I also ate my lunch in the stands at Loftus Road pretty much every day, which was very cool. I'd like to think that my inspiring writing spurred the Hoops on to the Second Division Play-Off Final the year I worked there, and to automatic promotion to the newly named Championship the following season.

    Season 55 Update

Things have been going well for me lately. I started a new job in October. I left my former law firm and joined a corporation as in-house counsel, which comes with better hours and much less stress. So far it's been a great move, and I'm enjoying it very much. My two older sons started playing "travel" soccer this fall, where they receive professional training and we travel to other towns for games, rather than just playing other kids in our town. They're having a lot of fun and growing a lot as players, which is great to see. My youngest is still in "rec" soccer, which is mainly an excuse for him to goof around with his best friend, but they're only five, so it's allowed.
