Today we entertained Falkirk and despite racking up 11 shots on target we had to wait till the 81st minute to open the scoring. A 2nd goal a few minutes later allowed us to climb to 5th. This is dangerous territory for us, as any readers will know we have little enthusiasm for promotion this season. Next season we will have 5 at least lads who recently joined us and will be ready for a push.

Then we went to Cowdenbeath and put on a defensive lineup, at the same time thinking our main chance of anything this season lies in the Cups. We face Nairn County this midweek, andn the winner faces likely St Johnstone - lucky white heather..

So Cowdenbeath were in a dull mood only creating the same shots as ourselves (2) but late on they scored with their 2nd one. So we drop back to 7th, and comfort, whilst they move on up towards the top division.

Last Wednesday we completed the SESL Cup group matches and sent out a lesser lights team to play Clyde. They were top and we were 2nd and nothing except us winning by 4 goals was going to change that. So we lost 3-0 and trained up SW Marinello - job done.

Yesterday we faced Stranraer at Stair Park and went down 2-1 - had we been a bit more adventorous we might have got something but we weren't and we didn't. Then we entertained St Mirren and scored with the last touch of the ball to win 3-2 when all at the game n(and me here) had settled on a draw - probably the correct result. So we win one lose one - I will take that as we sail into the second half of the season.

SESL Cup

Actually I wrote a Journal on Monday before the 4th game was played but obviously didn't press SAVE. 😟

Prior to yesterday we had qualified so am using the last 2 games for resting and to be ready for league matches.

Accordingly yesterday we met Airdrieonians for the 4th time this season, and was duly smacked 4-1. Likely another loss to Clyde tomorrow - not sure it matters as we will get a KO match but we will face a top team no matter what. So an extra game to train up our last youngster Marinello, and gate money 💰💰
Plan is to try for the Cup but at the least stay in the 2nd division by winning enough matches to avoid the bottom 6 and not the top 4 (I am well on my way to avoid that one..!!🤔🤔)
