Well, it's been a good few weeks over at Hampden. We came into match 9 on 7 June in 12th place. On that weekend we started with a home game against bottom side Berwick so this was definitely a must win. We were able to take advantage of Berwick's tired defense to generate 9 shots on target that game and thankfully were able to get 3 of them past a solid performance from Atwell in goal who had 6 saves. That gave us a 3-0 win and bring us up to 10th. We followed that up with a point away at Alloa where our two goalies combined for a 7 save shutout and we came away with a very fortunate 0-0 draw but it was another point and lifted us to 9th.
The next weekend we welcomed new defender Romain Bardet to the team and we threw the raw recruit straight from the academy into the starting lineup. However, the young Frenchman performed admirably along with the rest of the defense and our offense took advantage of a SL 14 goalie to get a solid 2-0 home win against DFA. This gave us our first MVP of the season which will be put to good use. The weekend closed with our first away win of the season at Inverness. And while we were lucky last week this was a deserved 2-0 win against a depleted INV team. This win brought us up to 4th by the end of the weekend.
Finally, we had an important session last weekend where we had two home games. With a small squad we were starting to run out of energy but needed to have a good showing and take advantage of the home support. We put out the best squads we had available and got a solid win over Ross County. Then we had a tough time against a stubborn Aberdeen side that looked to have won it in the 84th minute. But a miraculous equalizer in the 90th minute from Oleksiak salvaged a point and the stalemate left us a point behind Aberdeen and still in 4th in the table. The last few weeks have really turned our season around and we'll have to keep up the momentum since it is a long season and we're still only a third of the way through.
