First half of the season is gone and it is time to consider how the new guy at the Maryhill Magyars is performing.

New guy perhaps is not the correct term to use. Colin Scott was in the hot seat at PT back in season 12. He cut his SESL teeth at Firhill in 3 seasons and then decided that he was not good enough. He left SESL but was encouraged to return a few months later when the Commish offered jim the job at DUM.

At that time The Sons of The Rock were not in great shape and Scott decided to start again with an expansion team - probably not a thing now.

Back then, there was an option to start again with an equivalent squad from season 1. Lots of young players and very little SL in the entire squad.

The Commish questioned Scott’s sanity but the madman went ahead with the crazy notion. For sure, it was the last time anyone did this and that season, 18, was a disaster for DUM. The one and only Wooden Spoon award ‘won’ by DUM.

However, the young squad were trained and two seasons later DUM were promoted to Division 1.

Scott then went on to build a fantastic squad that won a total of 12 major trophies - a record in SESL that has not been bettered.

So it was understandable that Scott was in high demand when he announced that he was leaving DUM.

The Jags were looking for the SESL Legend to deliver trophies like he did with the Sons.

However, while his old team, DUM, are on the cusp of promotion and doing well in the SESL Cup it would be fair to say that the opposite is true of PT.

Results are not going well and, according to this season’s self appointed trade critic (he maybe the official trade but we don’t know) he traded a 4/21 DF for the lowest value in SESL history.

This might mean that Scott is useless or might mean that he is fair trader.

Well, the rules suggest that a 4/21 should be worth, in the region of, 367k. It’s just a rough guide though and does not take into consideration that Scott and Permentier are long term trading buddies.

Anyway, if Scott doesn’t get his act together soon then Thistle will regret taking him on.
