Merrylee Maestros
The Merrylee Maestros are a former 5-a-side football team who had many successful season's in the Saturday morning leagues at "GOALS!" a South Glasgow 5-a-side football bazaar.
The name of the team reflects the many players who were not only highly skilled on the field but also rated musicians in the club/bar circuit. A band of jesters parading as footballers some would say, until they met us on the field!
Season 46 Update...
We were going to set about this season unlike last season where we failed to get out of this division with almost the last kick of the ball. I know on I should write this before the season starts, but it starts with the wee round robin thing where you can easily train a few of the young team, not worry about the result, and go on and top the group while the early starters are sitting back resting on the laurels thinking the jobs done!
We have had a pretty impressive run of seasons with a poor start, middling middle, and lackluster finish. SFLSL 2, easy division to get into, difficult place to get out of, some say. Maybe a wee cup run into the nose bursting 2nd rounds will give the lads a wee can doo attitude, maybe. I've definitely seen my tactics being used by other teams last 2/3 seasons, can't remember if that went well for them, but I'm watching you, just so you know.
I will update the table below when I remember how to update the table below. Seems a shame to delete it just because I can't see the keyboard.

I am 52+1 still live in Glasgow, Scotland and have been playing this rolling dice version of soccerball management game since joining Psychsoccer last century. I took Montrose to a Cup Final in my first season in SESL and had a fairly successful time as manager of both Greenock Morton and Partick Thistle. I have been managing this Sanctuary League franchise since the end of season one with a wee break to give Paul Cockayne a wee shot.
Season 46!
Yep, still mid fifties. Had a few changes in employment recently after being made redundant during the pandemic. Think I've settled down now servicing X-ray equipment, mostly for the NHS. This gets me driving all over Scotland and visiting interesting places. I was recently sent to Islay, a small island in the inner Hebrides, fairly well know for producing whisky. I went over with a colleague from south of the border who had been part of the team who installed the equipment last year. We had a few hours to kill after the job and before the flight back to the mainland. Long story short, he'd never taken a tour of a whisky distillery even though they'd been on the island for two weeks during the install. I got us sorted with two tickets for Bowmore distillery and we had a great time. All the way through the tour, Keith kept commenting on what a great time he was having "...and we're getting paid!". I have to visit Islay twice a year, I think it might be fun.
