SFLSL's Newton Heath LYR pays homage to the original name of current Premier League side Manchester United.
As a proud Geordie and Newcastle United supporter we did consider renaming the club - but decided to give it our best go with this 'franchise' to see if we can complete the task of trying to get this club back to the top o' the league!
SEASON 50 UPDATE - Unsurprisingly we're still in the second flight (again). Rebuilding the squad feels like it is taking an eternity, and getting a decent goalkeeper is a major, ongoing problem - Hornicek the latest who looks like he has serious limitations despite a redraft. The rest of the squad continues to take shape and the lack of resources will no doubt hinder development again this season. The Geordie influx to the squad continues with the latest new additions Burn, Hornicek and Neave joining the ranks. Another season of rebuilding ahead and hopefully a few decent results along the way!
SEASON 50 Update: Not much of an update again really. Will turn 60 during this season love being a Grandad. Living in Newcastle, I obviously support support Newcastle United who are going through a bt of a transistion... and expect some heavy defeats this season. Still working as a cost manager in the Petrochemical Industry in Teesside. Been playing these type of games for a long time and never really found success and can't see this coming season changing that! Luckily the enjoyment is in taking part and am looking forward to eventually getting this team in reasonable shape at some point in the near future!
Very much Still looking forward to retirement... feel like this current project will be my last? My other sporting passion is looking up! Newcastle Red Bulls have given lots to look forward to for this coming season! Health continues to get back to normality, hopefully will get to enjoy retirement to the full in near future... and then I'll have to find some new hobbies to keep me busy, happy and fulfilled!
