SFLSL's Newton Heath LYR pays homage to the original name of current Premier League side Manchester United.
As a proud Geordie and Newcastle United supporter we did consider renaming the club - but decided to give it our best go with this 'franchise' to see if we can complete the task of trying to get this club back to the top o' the league!
SEASON 49 UPDATE - Unsurprisingly we're still in the second flight again. Rebuilding the squad feels like it is taking an eternity, with finances an ever increasing issue. Goalkeeper is still a key problem position despite bringing in young Shay Given who looks like he is another with limitations. The rest of the squad continues to take shape but the lack of resources may hinder development again this season. The Geordie influx to the squad continues with the latest new additions Botman, Given and Cole all servants of the black and whites at some stage. Another season for rebuilding with at least some hope of possibly getting some decent results!

SEASON 49 Update: Not much to update really. 60 this year and enjoying being a Grandad. Living in Newcastle I obviously support support Newcastle United - who have had a bit of an inconsistent season. Still working as a cost manager currently in the Petrochemical Industry in Teesside. Been playing in these type of games for a good few years and never really found success easy to come by... but the enjoyment is in taking part of course and am looking forward to eventually turning this team around!
Still looking forward to retirement... feel like this current project could well be my last? My other sporting passion isn't quite hitting the highs yet! Red Bull have taken over the Falcons but it's going to be a while before we see any turnaround in fortunes! Health still slowly getting back to normality, hopefully will get to enjoy retirement to the full in near future... and then I'll have to find some new hobbies to keep me busy, happy and fulfilled!
