SFLSL's Newton Heath LYR pays homage to the original name of current Premier League side Manchester United.
As a proud Geordie and Newcastle United supporter we did consider renaming the club - but decided to give it our best go with this 'franchise' to see if we can complete the task of trying to get this club back to the top o' the league!
SEASON 48 UPDATE - Not unsurprisingly we're still in the second flight but probably over-performed last season. Rebuilding the squad is taking an eternity, goalkeeper may be a key problem position despite having three players vying for top billing. The rest of the squad continues to take shape but a lack of resources will hinder development this season for sure. The Geordie influx to the squad continues with the latest new additions Roeder, Anderson and Ramsey all servants of the black and whites at some stage. This coming season will be another one rebuilding for the future without any relegation worries for another season!

SEASON 48 Update: Still not much changed since previous updates. I am getting old, 60 next year (providing I make it lol). Enjoying being a Grandad, although it's not quite time for slippers and feet up yet. I live in the fabulous north east of England and support Newcastle United. Work consists of being a cost manager for various projects currently in the Petrochemical Industry in Teesside. Been playing in these type of games for a good few years and never really found success easy to come by... but the enjoyment is in taking part of course and am looking forward to eventually turning this team around!
Still looking forward to retirement... this current project could well be my last? Newcastle United still doing well and another Champions League campaign in progress. Red Bull have taken over the Falcons so interest rekindled and looking forward to a revival in fortunes in the coming seasons! Health and fitness seems to be improving and getting back to normality, even if it is at a much slower pace these days!
