SFLSL's Newton Heath LYR pays homage to the original name of current Premier League side Manchester United.
As a proud Geordie and Newcastle United supporter we did consider a renaming the club - but decided to give it our best go with this 'franchise' to see if we can complete the task of trying to get this club back to the top o' the league!
SEASON 47 UPDATE - Not wholly unexpected but relegation following afairly dismal season. Still lots of rebuilding to do and an immediate bounce back is unlikely. The squad is starting to take shape, still very light in some key areas and need to be addressed. The squad is definitely taking on a 'Geordie feel with the latest new additions Ferdinand, Ginola, Mahoney and Albert added to the squad. This coming season will be one of rebuilding for the future and at least the relegation worry has been removed!
SEASON 47 Update: Not much changed since last update. I am getting old!! 60 next year, already a Grandad - time for slippers and feet up. I live in the fabulous north east of England and support Newcastle United. I still work in project cost control (Quantity Surveyor) currently based in the Petrochemical Industry in Teesside. Been playing in these type of games for a good few years and never really found success easy to come by... but the enjoyment is in taking part of course and am looking forward to seeing how we can develop this side!
Still working and dreaming of retirement. However, one big change - Newcastle United have at last won a domestic trophy! Fantastic season and Champions League adventure to look forward to again. Yet another little bit of a setback on road to full recovery health and fitness, obviously getting older has it's downside - but at least life is still starting to feel near 'normal' again - even if it is at a much slower pace these days!
