    About Bijker Boys

    SEASON 45 Update

Our last season whas not the best one. In the end we had to play the play offs to keep on the highest level. Fortunately we were able to win those, but it showed that we had to do some things in the squad. We were able to buy winger Gracie from Camelot. Emiliano Ciniani who played last season as winger was asked to turn back to his roots and to become goallie again. A position he handled in the youth and lucky for us he was happy to do so.

From our youth team we promoted Sidney Shoarma, Alexander Alex and Anthony Langers. All three are very talented but will need some time to develop. Hopefully we can give them some time and do we not get into the play offs or relegation zone at all this year.

    SEASON 44

In our second year in the SFLSL-2 we managed to become champion again. It was not expected but a lot of things felt in the right place. Our defense was great as we only lost one game in the league. This was the best result for us ever, losing only 1 game. In the SFLSL cup we did oke, but the Dowson plate we did much better. At the end of the year we could bring the plate home to our stadium. Winning two prices in one season is fantastic and showed that we had a great team of players.

Now we promoted to the SFLSL-1 what will be a new challenge. Let's try to play in the middle of the league and move up every year. But stay in this league should be the priority for this year.

    SEASON 43

A new year with new changes, new players, fresh mood and hopefully more points than last season.

We were able to sign some great talented players, but the main problem will be resources. As the cash position for the club is not very well, the resources to be bought at the start of the season will be very low. Without resources it wil become difficult to train all the lads, so choises to be made by the manager.

We welcome this year Roberto Coller, an 2-year experienced midfielder who seems very talented (scouted 36). Together with Coller the management was able to sign the one year experienced "De Ridder twins". Sjaak is an sweeper annex defender while Frank is more an midfielder annex attacker. Specially Sjaak seems to be very talented.Together with the other 17 players we currently have in our squad we hope to compete for the top-3 places.

    SEASON 42

Unfortunately manager Simon Bijker was not often seen near the stadium. This could be seen as well in the results.

This year the team will take some time to rebuild. This means that we might see some transfers as we know the manager loves to have a young talent squad. The first new players that arrived are Leon Alda (WG), Mika Vairienen (DM) and Ole Tobiassis (DF). Three very talented players that should be able to reach the top of the league. The first transfer signing was Spanish talent José Claramunt. He came from the youth team of Orgullo Atletico.

Alex Timossi (WG) retired, while Chris Watersman moved to Orgullo as part of the deal with Claramunt. Several players are mentioned on the transferlist but it is known that more players are marked as "possible leave".

The goal for this season, first half of the league and hope to do well in the cup(s). No pressure...yet....

    SEASON 41

A year were we ended as 4th in the league. A place where we should be happy with. We do not had the best team of the league and we did well overall. In the SFLSL cup we finished 6th and in the Dowson Cup we finished 4th. For this year we hope to do better and therefor we bought some new players. Brian Little, Clober Golf Club and  Charles Rennie Mackintosh came at the end of last year while during the break we added Romke de Jong, Chris Watersman and Rafael Hajiji. During the first days of this season we traded defender Goran Popov against midfielder Johnny Woodfield. This means we have to look for another defender but currently we solve this with Anders Anderssons to play in the hart of the defence.

The potential of the players are great, only the question will be if we have enough resources. The future will tell. We hope this will be a great year for us, let's start the new season.

    SEASON 40

After a few weeks the most pain of last season has gone. Only one victory away from being champion again, but the last games of the year were to hard for us. Overall we can see back to a great season. We were the leaders of the division for several weeks and suprissed the world. We even did not expect this ourselves. You would wonder what this season would bring us. We start as number 5 in the T-11 and T-17. So if we would become 5th at the end of the season we did what was expected. I hope we are able to do better, but we have to be realistic. Our team has some great players, but our selection is small. The potential of our new lads are great, if they work on that they would be a great player for every team in the leagu, so the future looks bright....maybe one or two extra players and we can try to do the same as last year....fight until the last day.

    SEASON 39

What a season did we have, we promoted as we ended second in the second division and surprissed the world as we won the title in the first division. With a team seen as the 6th team in the league we were able to win in the top league. Bijker Boys was capable to score 88 goals in the 30 games we played. And yes we lost 4 games (the last one we played with our reserves as the points were not needed anymore), but winning 24 games made the difference. In the SFLS Cup we finished 5th, while in the Dowson Cup we ended 7th. This all together made it a year we will never forget.

The season we face now will be long and difficult. The team will need to fight again for every point. Young players were added, but their potential was not as good as the players we added in the last years. A title is not realistic. A cup succes can be possible, but than you have to be lucky with the teams you have to face. So it looks like a year to survival, and build on a new strong team. History has proven things can go very positive, so let us all be positive. All the games start with 0-0 and you only need to score one goal more than the opponent. Let's start a new season.

    SEASON 38

It was faster than we imagined, the intention was to stay another year in the second division and than promote with a team that could compete with the top-6.

But after 30 games we found ourselves back in the second place of the rank and promotion was a fact. Although we did not good in the Dowson Cup (19th), we can be proud for the result in the SFLS Cup where we became second. We can only hope for the same kind of results this year. We are ranked as 4th of the league, but history showed that those statistics do not say everything. We added Johan Hansma, Mick Butcher, Anders Anderssons and Andy Sinton to our team. Bijker:"We have 18 players that should rotate, but in an ideal world this would be at least 20 to be able to compete with the top of the league. But we will do our utmost best".

    SEASON 37

A very terrible season for Bijker Boys. Manager Simon Bijker saw it comming and decided to invest in some youth players and hoped to pick some extra cup rounds here and there. In the Dowson Cup the team finished 6th, but the SFLSL cup we were 18th and in the league we finished 16th. The lowest place ever reached by the club. So now we have to see what the future will bring. At least one new player has been added to the team. Jelke Machielse a Dutch defender (1/14) should be a good player for the new first eleven. Topplayers this season will probably be the goallie Jetse Brouwer and winger Arjen op der Heijden. Manager Bijker would like to add another player in every line to his squad. Bijker:"If we want to be able to rotate, we will need at least two or three extra players which are more than average. But that will not be cheap and in the current situation we do not have much to invest". Prediction...best 6.

    SEASON 36

After a long season where the expectations were high for Bijker Boys the boys had to realize the current situation. Finishing 7th in the leage, losing more games than won (13-12) and only scoring 37 goals it was a year to forget. If you also include the cup where we finished 6th (SFLSL) and 8th (Dowson), you can see there was not much to be proud of. Internal there was also going things wrong and manager Bijker took some weeks off to think about the future.

Well...today the future will start again. Some players left (Caldiero, Vigas and Di Sado) before this seasons started and some new players arrived. We welcome Tobiazon (DF 0/10), McTominay (MF 1/13), Veerman (MF 0/8), Meyer (WG 1/14) and Op der Heijden (WG 1/13). Five new players to build a good working team. Manager Bijker:"We already have some great players in our team and with those youth players I hope to have a team available for prices in next season. We know we do not have to expect anything this year, but focus on the long term".

    This year's team will start with the current details: 67k, 50CP, 23TP, T-11 23.4, T-17 20.8 Average age 2.43

Let's see where we are on the statistics at the end of the season.

    SEASON 35

Despite the high expectations everyone had about Bijker Boys, manager Simon Bijker and his players could not deliver anything to the trophy Cabinet. In the league the team finished as 6th, while they were not able to be of any importance in the SFSL and Dowson cup. The only positive thing to mention was the development of the younger players.

This season the expectations seem to be high again. Even though manager Bijker tries to calm down the fans and point out some talents have to growe.

With an average age of 2.0, the fans expect this year some results...would this be the year for Bijker Boys?

New in the squad are Lubar (GK), Ess Dee (SD), R_ Varane (DF), Brouwer (DF), Bonevic (MA) and Tieme Bikeros (FW). We hope they will do well.

    SEASON 34

This year we saw a lot of old supporters buying a season ticket again. We did wonder why, but it seems they were very happy with the new players. At the end of the season we were able to transfer Kalemat (forward) and Mancera (defender) from Oden. A few days later Julio Caldiero moved from PEX to The flevolanders and not much later the goallie E. Conde came over from Montevideo Tricolores. Those new players together with our own youth players Lorenzo Giancarlo (SW), Pierre Pielorini (DM) and Denny Carriagi (DM) showed the ambition of the board. A spokesman said:"The manager asked for some specific players and scouted the new players himself. If he cannot make a result this year it is totally up to him. So we demand some throphies in our cabinet". Let's see what will happen....

    SEASON 33

Bijker Boys finished 4th in a season that had moments of strenght and weakness. When we are able to win games against the top-3 we might be able to make the next step.

In the McBride Cup we did not win a game, both matches were lost 1-0 against Norman Hunters. A very bad result and it influenced the manager to make some changes.

The SFLS Cup was a dramatic one as well. We finished 3th in a group with Glasgow Strangers, Merrylee Maestros and Ye Olde Spurs FC. Two wins, one draw and three losses.

So now it is up to a new season. Manager Bijker already added Volpe (PEX) to the team. This guy should be a solid goallie. Elnono will take a step back and be a defender this season. With some new young defenders around him he should be a mentor for the defence. We hope to add a new reserve goallie and a strong midfielder / winger to the team. With them we try again to become higher in the rank.

    SEASON 32

Unfortunately the history of last season has been lost. So was our manager, therefor we can not update about last season. What we can tell is about this season. With some new players from our youth team (Vigas, Di Sado) who looks to have a great future, and some experienced players like, Shearer, Decland and captain Camaraturoe the basic of the team is there. Dex Dexter and Alexis Colby are showing their skills also more and more what should be benefial for our team. A top 4 place is what we are aiming for, and it is up to the manager to show his skills now!

    SEASON 31

We did what we had to do. After a relegation we wanted to build up again. But we finished as first in the division. No time to build. We were able to improve some young players but the management was not able to buy the players needed for the next step. So this will become a dificult year. Hopefully we have a lot of active managers so there will be a lot of trades in the competition. We are open for it. Board promise for this year....avoid relegation....and try to build a better team than we had last year....to be continued...

    SEASON 30

A season to forget, but will always stay in the historybooks. The season we relegated after losing in the play offs. Manager Bijker:"We had a very difficult year. A small squad and to be honest not the best as we expected at the start of the season. If you look back we could do better, but with a more motivated management team. Now it is time to build up again and get back in the top league as soon as possible".

    SEASON 29

And again we did not manage to be different than the rest. Despite some new players, we ended 6th in the league. Oke, we reached the final for the Plate, but we lost this game as well. With season 30 already in our head we sold some players, bought some new and have to look forward. What will the new season bring? We don't know yet, but with a T-17 that is rated as second in the league, you might expect some firework.

    SEASON 28

A strange year we had, in the competition we ended as 12th. A place we did not expect after a great start. Despite a bad competition we did great in the SFLSL-Cup. Unfortunately, we lost the final but we showed performance in some of our games. Something to build up for this year. Again we sold some older players, bought some new talented lads and will try to be an outsider in every competition we play. We might consider a new strategy if we don't win a price this season....

    SEASON 26

Simon Bijker continued the run Paul Cockayne started. With some new players in the squad and Steven Davis playing a great season, Bijker Boys ended 5th in the league. Topscorer was Blake Bortles who transferred to Italian Stallions.

    SEASON 25

Paul Cockayne did what he said to do..Promotion for the Bijker Boys. But with that he also told the board that it would be his last season. The board looked for someone else to lead the team, and came back with Simon Bijker again. After a sabbatical the manager was very happy with the offer to come back to the club he loves so much. Bijker:"It will be a difficult year, I will need time to learn the other teams again, but I am confident we will win our games again".

This year we will try to sign some young talented players, and build a great team again.

    SEASON 24

The club had its worst ever league finish, tenth in division 2, and the owners have decided that a change in management is called for.  Simon Bijker departs after twelve seasons at the helm, and Paul Cockayne takes over.  The main problem for Cockayne to address seems to be the lack of young players - no age 1 platers are on the books - so the season 25 draft will be important.  But with the club in a decent financial state, Cockayneis confident that he can take the club back into Divison 1 within the next few seasons.  And who knows, perhaps there's a league title somewhere out in the future - a first for club and manager?

    SEASON 23

We had a great year when you look to the results. Ended as 3th of the league, playing for promotion. In the end we just did not make it. Did we really want to? To be honest no...we are not ready yet to make the next step. First we need to build our team a little bit stronger. Looking back to last year we can see that we need a scoring striker. We need a decent backup in our goal. Our first goallie for this year will be Zappolini, this Italian super talent will be the best goallie in the league. At least...that is the expectation our scouts have. Banana will play his last season with us, and therefor the scouts are looking for a backup. Our defence is still great. With a new talent Joost Lubberink that will become a great defender as well. In Frank McBridge we see our striker that we did not have last year. This talented young guy should bring us back to the time we had Ashanti! Iam Walker our other striker will have to fight with Johan Cruijff for the other position as second striker.

We hope to add some extra players later this year and expect to end in the top of the league again. Promotion?? Maybe...but than we have to be sure that we can win more than we lose in the highest division....to be continued...

    SEASON 22

You have that kind of seasons when you expect a lot from the players you have. And when the season ended you think....what was I thinking when I bought that player? This season (or last season offcourse) whas that kind of season. Just one big dramatic season. We ended as 14th in the league, McBride cup...lets not talk about that and the SFLS cup ended a session earlier than the year before. So relegation it was...

But now!!! Now we start fresh in a new season. Oke, we did not do the big transfers we did in the past. Managers probably don't like to trade with our manager anymore, so we have to do it with the players we get from the transfermarket and the one we get from the youth. New this year is Johan Cruijff, if he is as good as his name, we will be Champion before the competition is half way. Another striker joint our team with the name Ben Spits. He could be a new hero for the fans. In the defence we could add Mick Rock, he starts slow, but when he is rolling.....

Ofcourse we could still use some depth in our team, but finance is bad, and the players to trade are not on the radar of other managers. So we will do our best to compete with the rest and win more than we lose. Lets get back to division 1!

    SEASON 21

After a season we would like to forget as soon as possible, manager Simon Bijker decided to build a new team. Some new players already came to Almere (Banana 1, Talib, Groen, Goulooze and Thern) but still the manager looks around to get his team stronger. Last season the team ended as number 12 in the league, semi finals of the SFLSL Cup and Quarter final of the McBride Cup. This year the expectations are to get the same results with a younger team. With those younger players, the future should be in our hands. We start with the lowest T-11 in the leage and 14th in the T-17, but we hope to end in the top 6 of both at the end of the season. Hopefully next seasons will be better for Almere, but till that moment we will build and make our team one of the youngest in the league.

    SEASON 20

Much sooner than expected Bijker Boys became champion of the second division. Only losing two games in the league made them look very strong. Unfortunally the team was not able to do something sensational in the cups. So back in the first division the Boys have to make sure they stay in the top this year. With some new youth players they will try to manage this. Manager Bijker thinks it will be difficult, but we saw last year, if he doesn't gamble on a cup, he should be able to finish in the top 6. New players this season are Pedro Mungiz, Robbin van der Laan and Arnold Schouten. Let's hope they can bring some points to the club!

    SEASON 19

Last year was very strange. In the competition the team could not compete with the top. We got the change to stay in the league, but we could not win the play offs.So this season we have to start in division 2. Hopefully we will be able to play in the top again.

We did much better in the SFLSL Cup, WE WON!! In season 4 with OIi Sigurjonsson as manager the club the last price. It took 14 years before the team got a new trophy. Hopefully it will not take another 14 years to win a price again.

This year the management will need to build a team again that can compete with the top of the second division. Promotion is expected within 2 years again. And ofcourse everyone hopes to have a good cup run again. But than you have to be lucky and that can be over before you started. Hopefully the fans will enjoy this season.

    SEASON 18

A new season. With new players. During last weeks of season 17 we started to sign new players. Reserve goallie Dieter Schmidts, defender Halldor Jonsson and winger Geoffrey Thorpe were signed as new talents. With the new players Timo de Hakker, Geert de Reus and Cobus Benjamin they should be the new future. Manager Bijker:"We will use this year to growe, and I expect at the end of the season a great squad that could compete again with the big guys. Our board expects a better season than last year. With the figures above you can see what happened..."

    SEASON 17

Expectations were low for season 17. Manager Bijker wanted to buy some new younger players to improve his squad. Ashanti was the most important new signing in the team. The striker came from Ruwanda Rebels where he scored 15 goals in the league last year. In this year he would score 20 goals for Bijker Boys. In the end the team finished 6th in the league. Much worse than the year before. Manager Bijker received several letters from fans to retire for the first time in his carreer at Bijker Boys.

    SEASON 16

Second year in the SFLSL-1, and we can say it was our best year under manager Simon Bijker. Bijker Boys became runnerup behind top team Orchard Park Thistle only 2 points behind them. We were not lucky in the cup's. Both times we ended against Sheffield Rovers. First in the quarter finals of the SFLSL Cup (which they won) and a few weeks later in the semi final for the McBride Cup. Last year Bijker Boys won the "Robin Dewar" award, this year they were nominated again what showed that Bijker Boys was still making progress.

    SEASON 15

Our first year in the SFLSL-1, and we can say it was a great year. Unfortunally Bijker Boys was not able to do anything in the cup or win the league, but finisthing 4th after your promotion is a great result. Bijker Boys did win the "Robin Dewar" award, the "Robin Dewar" award is awarded to the team that has, in his opinion, performed above expectations during the season. With this reward you can say we did great!

    OLDER HISTORY

Bijker Boy's can trace its history back to 2008, with the merger of Real Almere and IFK Almere into Bijker Boy's. The club quickly rose through the ranks of Dutch amateur football, eventually reaching the Hoofdklasse. In season 13 Bijker Boy's were introduced in the Sanctuary Football League.

Private investors were found, and the club managed to meet the first two criteria for admission (among which is a balanced budget) in late 2011 and early 2012. After Bijker Boy's stadium (the 26,000 seater Flevo Stadion) and pitch were approved by the Royal Robin Dewar as well, the club met all criteria for admission, and joined the 23 clubs already in the SFL. Bijker Boy's play there games in Almere 20 minutes from Amsterdam.

Almere is located in the polder of Southern Flevoland. It is the most western municipality of the province Flevoland. It borders with Lake Marken in the west and north, Lelystad in the northeast, Zeewolde in the east, and Lake Gooi in the south. Almere consists of six districts, three of which are under construction. Almere is the youngest city in the Netherlands: the first house was finished in 1976, and Almere became a municipality in 1984. It is the largest municipality in Flevoland with 191,495 citizens (9 May 2011), and the 7th largest in the Netherlands. In October 2007, the city council of Almere made agreements with the government to expand the city to 350,000 inhabitants by 2030.

    Coach's Bio: Simon Bijker

    Updated Season 45

Life continues as it is. Lucky we are in a better season now, the weather is great and swimming pool has been used and hopefully will be used in the next weeks. BBQ we did not do as much as I would like to, but hopefully that will come.

My favourite soccer team (sc Heerenveen) has a new manager. And what kind of manager. Robin van Persie, will hopefully bring some positive energy in the stadion. I saw the first home match yesterday, and that was promissing. Hopefully they can keep up the spirit.

Nothing much more to tell at the moment, wish you all a good season and hopefully we will have a great competition year!

    ==================================

Wednesday 19 October 2011 Simon Bijker was signed as new manager for Bijker Boys (former ECS) in the SFLSL league. After a small break he returned in  October 2016.

Bijker is known for his love to trade players, always open to discuss a transfer. If you want to make a trade, you can contact him. He loves to "build" his team, but he also loves to win silverware. And he did in the past....So he is not a "Wenger"-manager. ;-)

Bijker: "I still live in Lelystad, the Netherlands. Got a lovely girlfriend, together we have 5 kids. So you can imagine we need our rest once in the two weeks when all the childeren are with the other parents ;-) . We have a dog, cat, birds, fishes and chickens...it looks like a farm over here. My favourite soccerteam is sc Heerenveen, were I do some volunteer work. I am a Financial Director so I love to play with numbers. Unfortunately, the most numbers I see in this game are in red at the moment. Bijker Boys could use some more cash to ensure we are able to buy resources at the end of the season. So this is one of the priorities for our team".

Looking forward to speak to you all again, and as mentioned feel free to drop a message.
