Season 47 Update:
Hey there! Season 46 might have helped us further shed the yo-yo team label, but we still have a long way to go to secure our spot in Division 1.
Our league campaign started off a bit rocky, but we managed to scrape by in the last few games. We were always on the edge of disaster, and a few more losses would have sent us straight down. We also had a great run in the cup, but my memory isn’t as sharp as it used to be, and finding seasonal history isn’t exactly my forte.
As always, we had to let go of a few players, including Darren Armour, John Martin, Carlos Tevez, Philip Mitchell, and Seamus Heath. They’ve all decided to hang up their boots with our thanks and best wishes.
This season, we drafted Keeper Andy McDonald, Defender Glyn Pardoe, and Winger Aaron Cochrane. But we need to keep an eye out for one or two more players during the season. Scott Carson, Dave Watson, Gary Wray, and Eric Brook are still the backbone of the team this season, so we need to see some of these youngsters make an early big impact.
As we enter Season 47, T11 is in a real relegation battle, and T17 isn’t much better. We’ll need to be careful to pick our battles this season if we want to make it to Division 1 survival. As always, we’ll have to rely on some bargain basement additions during the season to strengthen both T11 and T17, but we’re a bit tight on funds.
Survival in the big league is our top priority for Season 47, so the board has again set the club only one target again: Division 1 survival by any means possible. We really need to figure out how to develop Division 1-standard T11 and T17 to escape this seasonal fear of relegation. We’ll be keeping an eye out for some smart deals in the auctions and hoping to pick up some reasonably priced CP and TP.
Season 47 Update:
Hello, fellow SFLSL managers! It’s season 47, can you believe it?
I’m now well into my 60s, and my retired Mrs. O is still working 50 hours a week at the bank. It’s crazy compared to her 28 hours a week as a part-time employee. I’ve been learning to play chess using a fantastic little coaching app, and it’s been a great way to relax and unwind. This year, I’ve also decided to give our lawn a bit of TLC. It’s full of moss and weeds, so I’ve committed two summers to making it look beautiful again. But don’t worry, it’ll still be a fun place for the kids to play, not a fancy bowling green.
We had our annual baseball trip back in April. We watched our beloved Blue Jays play at Oriole Park, the home of the Baltimore Orioles. Game one was rained off, but the teams shared the spoils in the other two games. We met some lovely Orioles during the games, and it was great to see so many fans cheering for Rory Mc’s final round on the Sunday. Washington was a lovely surprise, and we highly recommend it to anyone.
Next up is a trip to Spain. Number 2 and his family have hired a unit on a campsite near Saluo and invited us to join them for a few days in July.
The three sons are doing wonderfully, and I’m still the lucky one who gets to take care of my three amazing granddaughters, Emma, Jessica, and Isabella. After Jessica got her autism diagnosis, she’s been doing amazing since her dedicated classroom assistant started working with her. Isabella finishing P3 and just loves school. Emma, on the other hand, is still a teenager, but I know she’ll grow out of it soon.
I hope you’re all doing great! Enjoy your season, everyone! As always, please be kind to us at Lisburn City, as we’re going through a bit of a transition again, honest!
