    About Ye Olde Spurs FC

Season 46 update January 2025. A disappointing season, finishing ninth but at least we stayed up. We made the last sixteen of the SFLSL cup and fell at the first hurdle in the Dowson Cup. We need to finish in the top eight at least and make bigger inroads into the cup competitions. Our three youth players have been signed and two look excellent prospects. The squad isn't too bad and we have decent resources but no cash. Hopefully we can have a better season than last and in truth we have no excuses not to do that, at least.

Season 45 update August 2024. A good season overall, we finished seventh in division 1. We had two excellent cup runs. Got to the semifinal of the SFLSL competition and won the Dowson Plate which is the second tier competition. We qualified for the Dowson Cup this season which is a big bonus. So far we have had two youth players added and one is excellent. Overall the squad isn't too bad so our expectations are a top eight finish and another good cup run. Let's see what happens and hopefully we can get off to a good start.

Season 44 update March 2024. Back in division 1 for the first time since season 30. We managed to finish ninth so avoided relegation but didn't qualify for the Dowson Cup which is a disappointment. We got out of our SFLSL group again but as usual fell at the first knockout stage. We lost our Dowson Cup first round match as well. The three youth draft players aren't great this season but we do have a few decent players with great max SL we can continue to train up. Our overall squad is quite healthy but we need another top defender at the back. Our goal again is to avoid relegation but also have a run deep into one of the cup competitions. We are quite hopeful we can compete.

Season 43 update October 2023. Well surprise, surprise we finished fourth and got promoted to division 1 for the first time for ages. So we qualified for the Dowson Cup this season. We did manage to get out of the SFLSL group but got knocked out straight away in the knockout stage. The Dowson cup we lost the first match. This season we picked up two out of three decent youth players and have Kane as captain who should score us a few goals. We have a good base for the squad but maybe need another good defender. Our goal this season is just to avoid coming straight back down, which won't be easy. Hopefully we can have at least one good cup run.

Season 42 update May 2023. A disappointing season ended with an eighth place finish, just about enough to qualify for the Dowson cup this season. We ended our SFLSL group with three wins and three defeats but still missed out on qualifying for the knockout stages. The Dowson cup was exactly the same, one win and one loss but an early exit. Looking forward to this season we have really good young players with a couple of very decent older ones. Again this season the normal expectations, a promotion push and a decent run in one of the cups at least. On my own improvement I must use the training points and cash more wisely otherwise the same outcome will occur this season.

Season 41 update December 2022. Our best finish for quite a few seasons in fourth but not enough for promotion. We got out of our SFLSL group yet again but again fell at the first hurdle. We made it past the first round of the Dowson cup but that's as far as it went. An above average season but we must do better this time. We have a fairly decent squad p, with a couple of players with a high potential skill level. Two of our youth players have scouted highly. We may look to acquire another one from the first auction. We are expecting another promotion push this season and at least one cup run past the opening knockout phase.

Season 40 update July 2022. We managed to finish in the top half of division 2 but only eighth. We got out of our SFLSL cup group but didn't get much further. We fell in the first round of the Dowson cup also. A pretty average season overall. This season we went into the season with a full 50CP but not any cash left over. We start off we a decent squad so I'm hopeful for a decent cup run and this time a promotion push. Our three picks have scouted well and we may finally have a good keeper in a season or two. That's the plan anyway. Our season may well depend on the manager's transfer activity.

Season 39 update January 22. Well we didn't finish fifth, this time seventh. We did qualify for the Dowson cup which is at least something of a plus. We did make the knockout stages in both cup competitions but fell at the first hurdle. We start the season with seven youth players, six age ones so a lot of potential. Our resources are decent, though a lot more TP will be needed. Our bank balance is almost empty. Another season we will just need to do with what we have and hope for the best this season and look forward to the ones to come. Again we could do with a decent keeper the second season I have said that. Our goals, another top eight finish and another cup run.

Season 38 update. Our third season on the bounce that we ended up finishing fifth. Not exactly what I was hoping for. Again no great cup run and ultimately failure. Going into this season we have three decent youth players and a couple of age ones from last. Sold a couple of players for cash and player swap deals. So we have a bit of cash and resources are just okay. We are still a decent keeper short but will have to do with what we have this season. Can't make my mind up whether to write this season off to rebuild or not. No doubt it will be a half way house decision and we will end up fifth yet again. Our goal is still promotion and one cup run but I say that every season. I think I need a huge slice of luck.

Season 37 update. Another season when we ended up fifth but with three points less than last season's total. A total failure in the cups but hopefully we can put that right this season. The squad looks okay and we have resources but the bank balance is empty so the first couple of games will be used to increase our funds. Three new aged zero players but only been able to scout the keeper who didn't turn out to be a future star. So another season trying to get out of division 2 and make the last rounds of the cup. What normally happens is we just fall short. I intend to put that right as well. Top three position and at least one quarter final place. That may be wishful thinking but you're got to aim high.

Season 36 update- Last season Spurs finished fifth in division 2, which was a decent effort and I was quite pleased. A Dowson cup qualification was my goal and will be for this new season as well. In a much better position at the start of the season regarding CP/TP after curtailing my spending slightly last season. My three new youth players haven't been what I was hoping for though at least one has scouted well. Another season in division 2 but hopefully I can build the team a little more before trying again to reach division 1. Another plus last season and one of the goals set, was a SFLSL cup run to the semifinals. My goalkeeper may cost me a few results this season but I may just need to sign a new one in preparation for the foreseeable.

Season 35 update - Last season Spurs finished eighth in division 2, disappointing but at least qualified for this season's Dowson Cup. Another mistake I made was not having enough cash left to purchase more CP/TP. So this season looks like another rebuilding job. Two youth players have scouted at 30 or over which is useful. I still have a decent starting eleven but not much back up. Looking forward to this season. Another top eight finish and a decent cup run, which we haven't had for a few seasons now. I need to spend the cash more wisely probably on more resources to improve next seasons chances.

Season 34 update - Spurs finished last season in 6th place in Division 2, one better than last season but still a disappointment not to return to Division 1. More goals were scored and less conceded but other teams just did better. This season Spurs start with the best T-11 and T-17 in the Division and a total SL only bettered by 4 of the top flight teams. The use of TB on some of my key players should hopefully give Spurs a big advantage in attack with Kane 2/29 and Moura 1/25 set to lead the line and Moura scouted at the max SL. Support in midfield will come from Skipp 2/27 MF and Winks 2/22 MF. This season the TB will be used to push 1/15 SW Vertonghen as close to his max as possible. Resources are ok but a lot of teams have more CP and TP so it will be important to get a good start and maintain momentum. A little tricky when your team is at the end of the alphabet and your first 3 fixtures are away. I'm thinking of renaming the club AFC Spurs.

Season 33 update - for the first time in 12 seasons Spurs haven't bounced straight back to Division 1. A 7th place was respectable but we didn't score enough goals. This season Spurs start the league season with a 1/29 FW Harry Kane and an unbeaten Cup run (4 wins and 2 draws conceding only once). The players have scouted well again and with 2 youth midfielders there should be more chances created for Kane.

Season 32 update - another season in Division 2. The defence is solid but the keeper keeps making mistakes. I have a lot of youth and not enough TP to get everyone trained up and most of them scouted very well. The forwards aren't too bad but we may struggle to create chances this season. I can see us being very difficult to break down which is usually a sign of a good season ahead.

Season 31 update - we finished 14th in Division 1, but this time we crashed out of the playoffs and back to Div 2. A lack of a top quality keeper meant we conceded too many and unluckily scouting of this season's draft was mixed with not mush hope of Lloris being a stalwart between the sticks. The rest of the squad is in very good shape for a quick return to Division 1 and with good strength in depth a decent shot at the title. We start top in T-17 and 2nd in T-11 with only rivals Locomotive Darlington ahead of us, which could make this one of the best seasons we've had for a while.

Season 30 update - we finished 10th in Division 1 and got to the SFLSL Cup quarter-finals and we knocked Locomotive Darlington out of Div 1! This was our best season for a long time. It's the first time in 15 seasons we've retained top flight status after promotion from Div 2. And our first positive goal difference in Div 1 since season 6! The team is in good shape for the next season. All the youths scouted well again and I'll have two decent forwards to go with the midfield and defence I strengthened last season. My only worry is over the two age 4 keepers.

Season 29 update - we finished 14th in Division 1, our highest finish since season 15, which gave us a chance of survival via the playoffs and we beat Merrylea Maestros to retain top flight status. Stats have us 14th in T-11 and 15th in T-17, but at least we're better than rivals Locomotive Darlington. Our core team isn't that bad and the majority of my youth players have scouted well so I'm quietly confident we can stay up again and maybe have a decent cup run as well.

Season 28 update - we finished 2nd in Division 2 although it was with the fewest goals scored in a promotion season since the expansion. I have better forwards to rely on this season although I haven't any decent wingers to support them. The keepers and defence look good and the best offence is a good defence, unless you have Messi.

Season 27 update - with almost identical stats to season 24 we finished 16th in Division 1 for the second time in three seasons, the only difference being that we won 2 games we previously drew. We start this season yet again with one of the best T-17s (3rd) in Division 2 and 5th in T-11, although we are now the 7th oldest team which could have an affect after MSA. The draft players scouted well again, although Toby didn't, I can hardly complain as it's been over a year since we last had a player scout so low. The aim this season will be to secure another promotion to Division 1 (I must be the most experienced manager in the league at doing this now) and this time to stay there.

Season 26 update - we won the Division 2 title again. It was a very successful season with more wins, goals and points than in any previous season. The aim this season will be to stay up and try for a top 8 finish.

Season 25 update - Well we finished one place higher than last season, but unfortunately that means we finished last in Divsion One. We also conceded more goals than any previous season. Current T-11 and T-17 stats before the blind draft players are added places Spurs in the top 6 for both and a return to the top flight is the goal again this season.

Season 24 update - We won the Division 2 title! Going from strength to strength we improved on the previous season by winning our first trophy, with more wins(19), better goals scored(62) and total points tally(64) than any previous season. Pre-season stats put us 10th in T-11 and 7th in T-17

Season 23 update. We finished 4th but lost out in the playoffs. This was the highest points tally (56) in Ye Olde Spurs history, although that doesn't take into account the league expansion - in season 12 Spurs finished 2nd in Div 2 with 48pts from 22 matches. Now we play 30 in a season. Starting the season we're in the top 6 for T-11 and T-17 but have more resources than our rivals - another top four finish is expected and we have a good set of youth coming through this season to see that through - Kane, Chadli, Erikson and Rose.

In Season 22 we finished 8th the season after dropping out of the top flight after just one season. We didn't score enough goals last season, but with Bobby Steel heading towards his maximum, which should be at least 30, that should improve this season.  I manage the Earthquakes in OASL's top division and just started up in the new expansion division in The Manager (Chelsea Old Boys). San Jose had a decent cup run last season and have a decent draw for the Steve Turner Trophy probably my best chance of SOS glory - they also took part in the SOS Cup representing OASL.

    Coach's Bio: Andy Shaw

I work in the local benefit office in Stockton and have worked in the civil service for 30 years now. This year I started on a new team for the first time in over 20 years. My experience hasn't gone to waste, but it's a big change and worst still I have to sit near Roy. I enjoy online football games which use tactics rather than skill, but still end up with the same outcome. I am big Chelsea fan and have supported them since the 70's and not just the last few successful years. Chelsea under Lampard are going with the home grown talent option, which is good for day to day matches but over a league campaign top international players are needed to compete with City and Liverpool.

I support Chelsea but I live in Middlesbrough (feel free to add my details on the front page) and whilst we can only wonder at what Man City can do scoring goals for fun, let's dial back 9 years before the money was poured in to 11th May 2008. City visited Middlesbrough and were thrashed 8-1 in Sven Goran Eriksen's last game in charge.

Updated November 2019: having failed in my bid to cross the channel in a shopping trolley, climb Scafell Pike in rollerblades, sell vegan flavoured meat as a butcher, drink Gazza under the table, tightrope walk in wellies over the Tees, sell a canine version of Strictly Dog Dancing to the BBC, or walk Hadrian's Wall in high heels I have decided to form a Three Tenors tribute band The Six Fivers - I am looking to recruit, so if anyone can hold a tune or a just a tuning fork please get in contact.

Updated April 2020. Just started a new job for the department for education in January. Training was going to plan and then what happens. Lockdown due to the virus and we all have to work from home. So now it's sink or swim. Good job I float due to all the hot air I normally speak. I hope everyone is keeping safe and well and it was very sad news about Dave's passing. He came across as a very nice man. Sad times.

Updated September 2020. Well my DfE training has finished and I'm up and running answering enquires and solving any issues from providers and academies. I was looking forward to getting back into an office environment but that seems to have been put back until at least spring 2021. My team Chelsea have made a few new signings but it may take a while to settle down. Just like my Spurs team, the goalkeeper issue seems to be a huge problem for Frank. Hopefully Covid-19 won't be as bad as the scientists are expecting and we can get back to somewhere near normal as possible. Stay safe and look after each other.

Update March 2021. So here we are, lockdown number 3 just starting the long process of coming out of it. Hopefully never to return again. Two pluses though. My bank balance has never looked so healthy, due to no pub access and football on every day to watch. Not the same without a crowd but still passes the time. Some things never change. Chelsea sacked Frank and it's now Thomas Tuchel, who has started quite well. Two wishes for the future. The vaccine rollout continues to go well and we have a great summer. That's just one. Second one, Manchester City lose at least one more game.

Season 38 update. August 2021. Lockdown is totally over, so Boris says. Let's hope we don't see another. I still haven't been back into the office since March 2020 but maybe I will soon. I was going a bit stir crazy at first but I'm now used to staying at home. England got to the final but lost on penalties. Still a huge improvement from the normal outcome. I got my wish from March 21. Manchester City did lose another game, one nil to Chelsea in the champions league final. A shock result but a nice one. I think no holiday this year and depending on what happens over the winter maybe one next year, all being well. Looking forward to the new Premiership season but City will take a lot of stopping again.

Season 39 update. January 2022. The end of omicron! Working from home may finally be over, though I'm now used to it and happy to stay at home. I work for the department for education and we should be starting hybrid working one or two days in the office. Manchester City are running away with the league as I expected, hopefully Chelsea can have another say in this season's champions league. I expect I may get away on holiday this year depending on being lockdown free. With money to burn maybe somewhere nice and warm. Keep safe and happy.

Season 40 update. Well after covid we go into a Russia Ukrainian war. We will never learn and always will be at each other. As previously stated I'm a civil servant, so now the government has said staffing levels will be cut to 2016 levels by 2025. No one is sure what this means but I suspect large  job cuts. Any early retirement offer and I will be off. I think this may happen after Boris goes but he's stilll not resigned. Chelsea finally have been sold and we have a new owner. Should be a few new signings in the next couple of weeks. We need to get closer to City and Liverpool. Enjoy the season.

Season 41 update. December 2022. Well England fell at their first main test in the World Cup, this time with Kane missing the all important penalty. At least we no longer look out of our depth. Good news on the possible retirement. A voluntary exit scheme at work which I have applied for but no guarantee of acceptance. I will find out the end of January next year with a leaving date at the end of May 2023. We now have our third PM in charge and we go into the winter with strikes being called left, right and centre. Can't blame then though with the cost of living shooting up. Anyway try and have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.

Season 42 update. May 2023. The big news is I was accepted on voluntary retirement and I am due to finish on the 31st May. The closer it gets the more I'm looking forward to it. After working full time all these years it may be a bit culture shock but time will tell. The strikes continue and the Ukraine work goes on. Things don't seem to be improving as the cost of living keeps shooting up, especially food prices. The Chelsea saga has now seen the end of Potter and Lampard is back in charge until the end of the season. He's doing no better and the end of the season can't come quick enough. Welcome Poch, hopefully.

Season 43 update October 2023. I finished work on 31st May and are now retired. Can't say I miss work at the moment but may look for a part time job in the new year. What you do miss is the people you work with and have contact with every week. Saying that since Covid must of us don't go into the office that often. Inflation still is fairly high and interest rates have shot up. Chelsea haven't started the new season that well and it seems like to much change has occurred to quickly. At least the team have won the last couple of matches.

Season 44 update March 2024. Finished work almost ten months ago now. It's now time to start looking for another job so I intend to sign on and start looking. Chelsea managed to get to the EFL cup final only to lose to Liverpool's kids. A big disappointment. The team continue to be unpredictable. Pochettino may be very well out of a job unless at least an FA cup final appearance, if we can beat City. We await the announcement of when the election will be. It sounds as though the country is sick of the Tory's and we will get a Labour win. How big a win we will have to wait and see.

Season 45 update August 2024. Let's start with England. My personal opinion is we aren't as good as everyone makes out, so getting to the final was an achievement. Could we do better, yes obviously but are we as good as Spain, France, Portugal or Germany, no. Onto Chelsea. Pochettino has gone and in comes Maresca. The jury is out but I do hope they at least give him the time he needs to sort the team out. A possible sacking by Christmas. My retirement continues but I have been looking for a new job the last few weeeks. A few interviews but nothing as yet. Keep on trying. Labour won the election which was no surprise due to the Conservatives being so unpopular. Trump was almost assassinated and Biden steps down. We await what happens next. Looking forward to the football getting underway again next month and the Paris Olympics this week with lots of GB medals.

Season 46 update January 2025. England have a new German manager in Tuchel after Southgate resigned. Whatever Southgate's faults he has been England's most successful manager since we won the World Cup all those years ago. My team Chelsea have improved but remain inconsistent and will still take a lot of work by Maresca to get them back to the top. I started a new administration job at Middlesbrough College which isn't to bad but the wages are poor. Trump won the US election and has already started trying to change everything in his first few days. Let's hope he can at least end the current wars and do 'deals' as he says. We won quite a few medals in the Paris Olympics and did ourselves proud.
