Since then we've been facing Division 1 mid-table mediocrity. The change in manager from the very successful Wilkes to Williams has brought some stability to the club, an after a slight overhaul of the squad has presented a platform to push the club forward.
Again it's been an age! And again we've gone down and back up, winning the league last season but have been yo-yo-ing for a good 10 seasons or so now. The squad looks like, but so are the coffers so will have to pull out all the managerial tricks this season to survive the usual bouncing between divisions.
Season 25 update
Gosh it's been a while. In the time since my previous update, we've been relegated and ressurected. Squad looks alright, but the cloud surrounding our lack of youth and max SL players remains..... this year looks like a watching brief for us in Div 1, as we aim to not get relegated. The attack looks in great health, but with a ropey defense we're already struggling near the foot of the table despite being the joint top scorers in the division! Oh, and we won a cup last season to go with our promotion, hugely appeasing the fans who stuck with us after relegation.
Season 20 Update: It feels good to read our Season 19 update (below), as after being again predicted to finish in the relegation places we battled away to 4th place in the league, behind only the big 3 who battled all season for the title. We had the leagues top scorer in Wroe, and are sorry to see him move on. However the squad has to grow. After rubbish in last year's draft we have again had to buy in players with more potential which should allow us to continue the push up the table. We will obviously hope for a better draft this year!
Last year's season was made all the more impressive given our SL15 and SL16 GKs after MSA, and we have moved quickly to rectify that at the expense of our huge SW Pallister - another we are sad to see go. So after a summer of change we hope we now have the youth and potential to cement our position at the upper echelons of the league, and prove we deserve to be there. I'd like a top 6 finish this time around, and for the youth in our team to really grow. Our latest estimates give it just a few seasons before we are consistently challenging for the title. Exciting times for the Posties, just as our old manager returns to the game, welcome Mr Turner!
Season 19 Update: : After receiving rubbish in the draft last season, we did well with a squad full of low potential. The Posties also brought in an apprentice with better potential, and broke the bank to sign a top quality prospect. We were hoping to add to that this season, however have suffered again at the hands of the draft so will have to carefully nurture the quality we have. A Top 8 finish is our aim this season.
I work in Finance for a bookmakers - so being surrounded by football all day sets me up nicely for this role in football management. Originally from Glasgow, I am now living in London, but still support my small, lowly, local Glasgow club (Rangers). Hopefully by the the time Season 22 or so is underway they'll be back to their previous greatness - a feat which I hope to mirror with Inter Postmen. After overhauling an aging squad we are still favourites to be relegated, with poor max SL's not helping. Here's hoping we can hang on and push up the league in seasons to come.
I also play in OASL and SESL with other teams, and very much enjoy every aspect of the SOS games.
