I'll probably change 2 of the MFs to 0/7 DFs as not many teams select MFs by choice.

We are also going to experiment with a set schedule for picks - this is up on the Front Page on the Players Picked table. Starting Monday the first 4 teams will be set to have their picks then the next 4 on Tuesday which will continue until Sunday next week.

If there are any issues let me know and if you see any mistakes with the players allocated let me know.

The close season is my rest period and, as such, I don’t mind how long the draft takes. That being said, it does take a long time. I have made a few suggestions over the years and the overwhelming response was 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'.

Like Leon, I check in on the site at least once a day - every day. Sometimes real life doesn't let me do anything but I do check in.

Roy is in full charge of the draft and I think he does a very good job with what he has to work with. This, however, is not his full time job. As such, can we expect him to be updating the draft every day. He has other stuff going on - I don't know what but I know we all have other things going on. I get that the draft can be frustrating if you let it but please try to relax and accept that the draft will take some time. Be like me, relax and enjoy the break while recharging for the new season.

I am, of course, open to change and I do enjoy reading suggestions on improving the draft.

Let me start by saying that I have the utmost respect for commish Colin and assistant Roy. I have been in their shoes and know that it's not easy and sometimes quite stressful to be the one at the knobs. Specially in the off season like we are in now. 

that being sad, I'm starting to feel a little bit annoyed by the lack of pace of the draft in combination with the lack of management of it or the lack of communication about it. I just came back from a 2 week vacation and during that time I have been checking the site on a daily basis to see if my team was up for picking players yet, if the picked players were added yet or if the blind draft was about to start. Just so that I wouldn't be the one delaying the draft. That's not how I want to celebrate my vacation tbh.

I'm more then happy to help out if you are struggling, Colin and Roy, as you know I have organized drafts before. More then happy to step into a thinktank to revive the draft alltogether as we all feel this system isn't working anymore, and even more then happy to wait a couple weeks in between seasons if you two need some time off, but I am no longer happy to just hang on while you are procrastinating or lingering or busy doing other things.

If you need time to reload before starting the new season. Totally fine, but communicate! Please set clear dates so we all know what to expect. The draft should be a methodical process, so draft up a calendar stating which teams pick on which days, when are players added, when the blind draft starts and when the season kicks off.  

I'm done with checking my phone on a daily basis only to see that really nothing has changed in 3 whole weeks. I'm kinda starting to lose interest in this league which is a feeling I really hate!

I like the idea of getting 3 random players say 2 age 0 and 1 age 1. You get to choose their position but levels are set.

Would speed up the draft process.

One possibility would be to setup a schedule, if we want the draft to take a week (for example) we will need to have 4 teams send their picks every day.

If we know at the start of the process when is our deadline we should be able to do it.

Kind of like submitting lineups.

I'd be happy to trial the OASL style sliding scale of SL value with a couple of ages modifications. The free TP in SFLSL doesn't cover consecutive seasons of TPing 3-6 players so age 2 players help bulk out squads. 

It would also mean every manager would be able to pick the type of player they wanted for every round.

Similar discussion last season. Personally, as we near end of season clearly define timings for processing, squad aging ie week commencing then instruct managers as to when the draft will start. 24 hour clock then move on. 

Two picks then a bind draft should be more than managable.  

Picking 56 players might seem a bit much (28 teams and I can't remember if we can scout the first round before picking the second) but surely we all know what players we want. 

MSWL had that system but there was only 1 player drafted. Every manager had to send their list to Al Sellers.

Alternatives if either of those get snatched from under my nose: #47 for the GK, #49 or 50 for the DF. (But surely nobody would gazump me on my birthday, would they?).

I'd suggest to set a fixed calendar, so nobody relax much. Knowing that day is PSA, that day starts draft, that other day you have to send your lineups... should keep the attention actived.
That would be more demanding to the people running the league though, so they should decide.

Also, we can add more teams to each date. It's more uncomfortable to the (let's say) 5th team of the day, as he has to send 10 picks in case the previous teams choose its players. But it's not so bad.
Even we can set the "draft day" when EVERYBODY has to send he player he choose. The champion will have to send a list of 72 players, but maybe we can just divide in 2 days, so he only has to send a list of 36. 

Agree that the draft needs speeding up.

More Draconian enforcment of timings?

Abandon blind draft, replace with a random draft - managers can choose age and position but level is random?

OR

Do something similar to OASL where three players are assigned to each club, age 0, 0, 1 maybe.  Levels determined by last season's league finish, but managers can choose positions?
