I mentioned before the start of last season that we have a problem with recruiting new managers. I am going to lay my cards on the table and say that I am not going to attempt to recruit any new managers. I have done it in the past in various ways but it is not my thing and I will not be doing it again.

Ok, now that we have that out of the way, what do we do now?

I am ok with doing the admin side of the Commish job but this league does not belong to me so my duties will end there. If you feel that the Commish should be doing more than just setting things up and running the games then we will have to find a new Commish.

We could all take on some responsibility in recruitment, indeed there could be an incentive such as an extra few TP for every new recruit or we appoint someone to do it and pay them like we do all the league helpers by way of extra Ks in their bank account come the end of the season.

I understand some of the reasons that Sanc is unattractive to a few folk as some guys have mentioned to me why they do not want to participate. The number one reason is the length of the close season. Some folk like a short preseason and then get right back into it. I get and understand that. My response is always the same - it's nice for the Commish to have a break. Not everyone gets or understands that. This is not my full time job nor is it my passionate hobby, so I don't want to be doing 52 weeks a year. I understand there is a nice compensation at the end of the season in the way of 300k but I don't need that to be successful.

Anyway, what are we to do?

Currently, DUB are managerless and I have been caretaking at PEX for, I think, 3 seasons. David kindly stepped in to fill the hole at FCB for one season and his commitment is very much appreciated but he has intimated that he has a busy summer ahead and might not be able to commit any more time on here - he already does a lot of work in SESL that does not go on record but does not go unnoticed ;-)

If you have any ideas as to what we should do next then please inbox me. I do not want to choke the blog while the draft is proceeding. I will take on board any ideas and suggestions and hopefully I will be in a position to post a Poll next week.

I am back from my trip and will continue my Commish duties tomorrow.

I can switch on preseason once I have all the Commish stuff completed but, from memory, Preseason remains open for a set time and then there is an automatic switch off. I can't remember how long it is but it has happened in the past. Most guys want to know what their new recruits scout before committing to TP purchase so no real rush for Preseason just now.
