The Broncos have made a decent start to their SFLSL Cup campaign, with two wins and a draw, picking up and MVP and a captain’s bonus in the process.
Things started well against FC Blades as we raced into a two goal lead in the first half, Camargue and Namib doing the business for us. But it was, as they say, a game of two halves and in the second the Blades scored twice themselves to square things up at 2-2.
Our second game was against New Jersey Nutmegs. We had rather the better of things here, outshooting our hosts 11-1. However, for all our pressure we struggled to find the back of the net until Darnell Dartmoor put Ian Ytene through in the 67th minute for the only goal of the match.
Wednesday’s game was against Silverx Surfers, whose manager failed to put in an appearance, it seems. This was straightforward enough for us once Camargue put us in front in the 31st minute. We notched up a 5-0 victory with Nokota and Namib netting twice each.
It looks as if we should qualify from this group along with FC Blades, unless New Jersey can win all three of their remaining matches.
Happy with that!
