Founded in 1994 and one of the first teams in MLS history. The Quakes have went on to win the title in 2001 and 2003 respectively. The Earthquakes play their home games at the Spartan Stadium and have local rivals LA Galaxy just up the interstate 5 in California. The teams top player Eric Wylanda scored the first goal in league history.
Season 24 Last season was the cup special season with San Jose appearing in two cup finals, whilst De Anza Force also defended their Youth Cup and became the first team to win it twice. Cup success brought more financial success and with some teams needing to get rid of cash in post-season I released a couple of age 4 players for 800k which meant for the first time in San Jose's history there was 5000k in the bank.
I was able to bring in two players in the Sealed Bid Auction meaning the squad will have an age 1 keeper, DM, MF and two DFs. Which should make us very hard to beat which was the key to our cup runs last season. Group D of the Steve Turner Trophy looks tough, but also gives San Jose the chance to beat rivals Colorado who decided they didn't want to play Division 1 soccer this season.
Season 25 update. Well season 24 ended in disaster. Relegated from division 1 and knocked out of the AS cup at the semifinal stage. Even De Anza Force missed out on promotion and lost the playoff game due to injuries and the managers stupidity. This seasons goals are in a nutshell promotion. Another cup run would be nice but it's all about getting out of division 2. We still have a decent cash overflow after resources were brought, so no excuses. With new managers returning to the league the standard will improve so time to up my game.
Season 26 update. A bit of a rebuilding season after the previous season's relegation. We didn't do badly and finished in fourth position. The cup run didn't happen but overall I was quite happy with the effort. This season will be no excuses. Promotion or bust. We have good resources and money left over for an early purchase. I do seem to say this every season though. We have been drawn in the toughest group in the Dave Dowson Shield. It may prove to be helpful, teams should take points off each other so it should be wide open. De Anza Force started off well but faded badly to finish in mid table but did provide four decent youth players. Looking forward to success. My early prediction.
Season 27 update. We had a good season 26 but just fell short in all the competitions. A fourth place finish in division 2 and finishing third in both the AS cup and DD shield. Due to our good cup runs our bank balance has never been so good at the start of the new season. Four good age 1 players and full resources. A nice Dave Dowson Shield cup draw, so hopefully another good run. Again we must put all our efforts into winning promotion and getting into division 1. De Anza Force did win promotion in the youth league so a tough season ahead. I do fancy our chances this season but it may be down to my transfer bids and players brought in. No excuses but I say that every season.
Season 30 update January 2023. Well Robin has left and Andrew has taken over the hot seat with David helping him out. Hopefully everything will settle down and get back to normal, whatever that is. Last season we ended up in tenth position not that it mattered. The important thing is we go into this season with a decent squad to make us competitive. Let's see how the season pans out with three games a week it's going to be quick and exciting. Hopefully very enjoyable.
Season 24 update.
I also manage Ye Olde Spurs FC in SFLSL. Aged 50ish and born in Middlesbrough in the north east of England. I work at the local benefit centre and have avoided joining the migration to Universal Credit so far. I am a big football fan and have supported Chelsea since childhood and have not recently jumped on the bangwagon. Frank Lampard's kids look like they could be the future of the club, but if they're going to compete for the league the money has to be made available to bring in some true top quality international stars.
Season 25 update
As well as being Ye Olde Spurs manager I now also manage Falkirk in the SESL and are just about to start my second season. I recently started a new job in January at the department for education and was just getting used to it and then lockdown and the office's were closed. Not sure if working from home all the time is a good thing but it's hard to get used to after being an office worker for 30 years plus. Still hopefully things are returning to some sort of normality.
Season 26 update
After starting my new job at the department for Education in January I'm finally up and running and answering enquiries from providers and academies. It been a tough few months due to Covid-19. Skype has a lot going for it but getting training online isn't perfect. My team Chelsea have improved since last season with all the new signings but it will take a bit of time to find that consistency. My other Olmec teams aren't going much better. I got Falkirk relegated in my second season and Ye Olde Spurs are still trying to get out of division 2. Middlesbrough is currently in tier 3 which means all the pubs are closed. Missing getting out of the house for a couple of beers but on a plus my bank balance hasn't looked so good. Keep safe and roll on next year.
Season 27 update
Still sat at home and haven't been into the office for over a year. If lockdown is eased then a trip into work will be the first course of action. Even just to get out of the house. My team Chelsea are now champions league winners for the second time after beating a disappointing Manchester City. I wasn't sure about Tuchel but credit must be given to turning the season around. Big game tonight England v Scotland and I expect England to win and make the knockout stage. My other Olmec teams. Got Falkirk promoted and now in mid table and Ye Olde Spurs who are still striving to get out of division 2. Nice to get back into Pubs and hopefully they won't need to shut again. Things do seem to be better with the vaccine rollout going well.
Season 30 update January 23
After a lot of change we finally made it without the league folding. Well England fell at their first main test in the World Cup, this time with Kane missing the all important penalty. At least we no longer look out of our depth. Good news on the possible retirement. A voluntary exit scheme at work which I have applied for but no guarantee of acceptance. I will find out the end of January/middle of February with a leaving date at the end of May 2023. We now have our third PM in charge and we go into the winter with strikes being called left, right and centre. Can't blame then though with the cost of living shooting up. Mainly due to the Ukraine war and the Russian embargo on Oil and Gas. Anyway try and have a wonderful New Year and 2023 in general.
