Real-life Houston Dynamo were formed in December 2005 when the coach and players from San Jose Earthquakes moved to Houston. However the team stats were not transferred so Houston was officially a new team. They won the MLS Cup in their first two seasons (the two stars on their logo reflect these two wins).

Season 23 recap: The king was dethroned!!! Of course, it wasn't by me, and I could only keep it at a 3 horse race until the last quarter of the season. Frankly, the youth coming through isn't as strong as with other clubs, hence the arrivals of instant big-guns such as Min and Cha, with a mixture of great managers and great talent in the squad. I can't have my buddy Dave now doing a Bill to me! As you can see from the table above, the talent pool has weakened, and I can't help but feel like we missed a chance a couple of seasons ago, before the youth really fed through. Bill will surely have plans to get around this systematic attempt at parity, but myself and the board will have to do some thinking regarding our approach. Season 24 objectives: Half-heartedly I'll say it's to compete. We can still win this title, but on paper Bill remains the man to beat and Alon has some cash in the bank to bolster. It'll be interesting to see how this season pans out, and we may have to focus some attention to a cup this year, but you never know......
Season 22 recap: It's been a while since we had this good a team. The stats suggest that season 16, when we finished second, was a better team, but I don't believe that. The squad we have at the moment is now starting to really push Bill for dominance at the top of the table, and we're also competing on other fronts - as proven by the AS cup last season. Season 23 objectives: second twice in a row, there's only one way that we're looking, and that's to arguably the best team this game has ever seen. It'll be a challenge to dethrone the king, but we'll give it our best shot, whilst continuing to fight on all fronts. After tasting silverware last year, nothing else will do and a barren year would represent a waste of fantastic talent. Now's the time boys!!!
Season 21 recap: A very solid season saw us pip Leon to 2nd and bring about a new rivalry! Our squad continues to grow in strength, and if we continue with these progressive seasons then we could eventually see ourselves challenging Bill. Maisuria and Scott were the league top scorers (which made keeping them despite interest from Bill's Bulls at the start of the season all the more important). Season 22 obvjectives: With good resources and a squad which is slowly filling out nicely, we're aiming to challenge Bill this year, or at least do some damage in a cup. 2nd would still represent a good season with our stats, but with so many age 1 / 2 players then we should be well set for another successful campaign. Our DF is still a bit weak, as is our back up GK, but once we're all training up I think we'll be a force to be reckoned with!
Season 20 recap: Due to ou focus on youth, with 5 age 1s in our squad compaed with most having only 3, we entered the season with far and away the worst statistical side in the division. And, whilst we were never in danger of auto-relegation, it took a final game win, and a good run towards the end of the season, to keep us out of the play-offs. A successful season, with lots of training as set out in the objectives below. Season 21 obvjectives: Hopefully we can crack on fom here, and with a solid purchase to start the season we now have the 7th best t-11, rather than our usual 12th! Could be a decent season, with our squad in s22 looking like it'll be at it's prime.....
Season 19 recap: A disappointing end to our campaign, despite being in 2nd place with about 5 games to go. We ended up in 5th, but the team looks good, with a healthy set of resources and hopefully two more youngsters joining in the draft. The youth team, despite finishing mid-table, has been training and promoting assets well, and this sesason represented another step on the way to being one of the best teams in the league. Season 20 objectives: We're hoping to again push the leaders, but more likely this season will be about training the youngsters to give us a huge, strong squad for next season, including five age 2 players.
Season 16-18: Mediocrity loomed! Despite reaching 3rd place in season 16, with a great looking side, results started to dry up and we spent the next two seasons languishing in 8th position. Never really in trouble of relegation, but now want to press on. Season 19 objectives: We've a good young squad with the youth team also impressing, so should be a solid season ahead as we start to challenge at the right end of the table again.
Season 15: The team just goes from strength to strength. As mentioned in my last update, we were looking to make an impression at the business end of the league last season and we did just that. We thought finishing ahead of Bill's mighty NYRB would be enough, however the performance of Dave's Columbus just pipped us to the title. A couple of tough away draws prevented what could have been an even better season. Also stopped short in the cups meant a barren year, but we now know we're not too far off the top. Season 16 objectives: Again, the aim for this season is to strengthen, we have a WG who will be SL40 by MSA, two fantastic GKs (one Captain McCaffa), and a further 5 age 2's who we will aim to fully train, along with our 3 age 1's. That will mean a huge squad for the forthcoming season and beyond. Like last year, I'd be surprised if we didn't challenge for the title, and after a bumpy start we're starting to flex our muscles in the cup. I'd like to secure a cup as well, especially given that we have a bigger squad to challenge with this year, so can handle some rotation. Another big season coming up, can we cash in on our potential? Columbus and NYRB are still favourites ahead of us, but we feel we are ready....
Season 14: Wow, my youngsters are growing up! A fantastic season last year saw my, as described below in season 14s update, '4 great age 2s' really come of age. They were the core of a team that tore up the form guides and for most of the season trailed only the runaway top 2 title challengers in the league, until eventually throwing the final game away to finish in a superb 4th place. Season 15 objectives: With a good amount of cash and resources, and a successful youth influx from the junior team, we now have a phenomenal squad - second only to NYRB in t-11, with the improvement highlighted by the table above. We have the TP to train all 5 of our age 1s, a couple of age 2s to train and McCaffa, after streaking away with his second consecutive Golden Gloves award, is going to be an SL42 before MSA. With a lovely balance also in the team I feel we are ready to harness our SL as effectively as possible, and are now ready to challenge for the title. If we fail, it will only be down to a slightly rickety defence, but we will be looking to shore this up slightly in the early season, and with our captain also there then some positive results will see us strengthen through him as well. So I'd be disappointed if we didn't make any impression on the very top of the table, we have the strength, resources and the know-how, and if not this year then we are in a great position for seasons to come, as was always aimed for. But with McCaffa and our WGs in their prime, there's no time like the present. It could be a good one!
Season 13 recap: After some more rebuilding we struggled in the cups and finished one place above the relegation playoff place. Fortunately, we saved up some cash and have a great young side, and with that behind us this year we hope to push on. Season 14 objectives: After a difficult season last year we have completely rebuilt the side. With 4 great age 2s, including our huge goalkeeper, a couple of age 1s, including a superstar WG in the making, and the two new draftees still to come in this season, we have the makings of an excellent side. Our aim again will be to stay up as we have a weak t-17, but hopefully after a bit of training our t-11 will be strong enough to win the key games. Going into this season with 9 players targeted for training we have the resources and hopefully next year can start to mount a challenge at the right end of the table.
Season 12 recap: what a great season! We were comfortable(ish) in the league, finishing a couple of places above the relegation play-off spots, whilst also going on a run to the final of the ST trophy! Shamefully we got our orders messed up and found ourselves 5-1 behind at ht - we got back to 5-4 but just couldn't grab that extra goal. Nonetheless, a great game and a great season back in the top flight.
Season 11: Got promoted and 3rd/4th placed playoff in the STT still to come, although not winning anything it was a succesful season! This was the teams only aim - get promoted, and even a spot of youth brought in as well.
Season 10: Was a low point with just 15 league points being earned (the lowest in our 8 seasons of existance in OASL)
Season 8: we finished 4th after challenging for most of the season - horrendous injury list cost us a higher place. Did get to the Al Sellars Semi Finals
Season 7: we finished mid table after flirting with relegation.
Season 6: we finished 4th (remember the Olmec Bug?)
Season 5: Houston won the 2nd division.
Stephen Williams: Season 24 Update Dec 2019: Not much changed, and in fact I'm even having a 5 guys for dinner today. Still living with the missus and enjoying work!
Stephen Williams: Season 23 Update May 2019: Bought a house in London, girlfriend moved in, all very exciting. Still really enjoying work, and that's pretty much it! Having a 5 guys for lunch, can't wait.
Stephen Williams: October 2018: So far so good, with a very positive relationship and a house purchase under way. Work still enjoyable and successful, so long may it continue!
Season 21 Update, Apil 2018: Oh boy, I regret writing that wedding stuff!! Hasn't been the easiest 6 months after our split but I've moved house, job and relationship and looking forward to some fresh starts in the summer. I remain in London with a job in central, and may be looking to buy a place soon.
Season 20 Update, August 2017: I remain in London, enjoying the busy life or work, and a relationship. Will probably be looking to move on from my current role in the new year after my wedding, so hopefully some exciting times ahead.
Season 19, January 2017: Now living in London, and planning for my wedding next year. Living a busy life at the moment but trying not to let it affect the Dynamos as we start to build a squad to challenge at the right end of Division 1.
Season 15, August 2014: The fans here now love the way the side is going. 3 wins to kick of a new campaign where we have the second best t-11 around. Loving this league and the team after 3 seasons here. Personally, since I started I have changed city, job and girlfriend but am now settling down in my life in London as well as with my Houston side. Things are similarly looking up. For the last year, I've been working in Finance for a bookmaker so spend most of my day watching the football, and am now getting to spend far more time with friends and playing football etc than I was before the move.
Season 13/14 Update: Not an awful lot changed from my enthusiastic update below! Now really starting to get a feel for the squad and a love for the team/fans/city, and the feeling appears to be mutual after a very successful season back in the first division. More of the same seems on the cards and the cup glory last year seems to have gone down well with the fans. No major dramas!
Season 12 Update: Hello all. Clyde departs with his head held high after an impressive couple of seasons and I've been kindly asked to take the helm. I've had a few seasons experience in ODFL and SESL, and have been assist commish and match reviewer in both - which I very much enjoy.
Really looking forward to trying my hand in another league, especially one like OASL which has less emphasis on youth (although I'll be out to change that!).
As for me, I currently live in Birmingham, although that may not be for long as a move to London is approaching fast. Love playing football although my real team has just disbanded and asides from that I like spending time with gf/friends - including a couple of other Olmec managers would you believe! I work in Marketing for a Casino and am a Rangers fan (from Glasgow originally). That's 'bout it.....boom.
Clyde Whiting: Season 11 update, April 2012
Living in Hereford, and working as a Vet.
Played Olmec originally in the late 1990's when it was scribbles on paper and emailed lineups to Commish with deadlines that never seemed to be kept and results that took 2 days to appear.....then THURUMP an email landed with dozens and dozens of files of every match played each in an individual file, and numerous reports and comment and press release files etc etc etc.
Hands up who remembers Olmec back then? Ah, bless.
Olmec more streamlined today and when David Blair left HOU mid season 9 to go glory hunting to the mega MON franchise, I picked up his fruity team.
Season 10 lacks cash in the bank and not enough CP been able to buy to make an impact. Seems a real case of 'haves' and 'have nots' in OASL with 2 teams (MON and MIN) starting season with over 1,000k more than most other teams and dozens more resources too.
With the cheerleaders behind us, we hope to attract the locals fans back to the stadium and make a difference.
