Our 2nd game in the Al Sellers cup was away at Steve's Columbus Crew,a really strong side who were topping the T11 stats in division 1 and we knew we were in for a tough game, both sides opting for a 4-2-4 early ball, they started quickly and opened the scoring on 3 minutes when Simpson fired home 1-0,7 minutes and he fired home his 2nd 2-0,we slowly played ourselves back into the game and pulled one back on 24 minutes when Driussi drilled home from range 2-1,half time soon came and subs on ,both sides pushing on looking for the win but on 65 minutes Uzani headed home to level it up 2-2,nothing in it as both defences giving it their all but on 82 minutes Simpson fired home to complete his hat trick 3-2 and on 83 minutes Locke slotted home to seal the game 4-2,amazing game as we edged the shot count 14 to 12 but come away with nothing, Stuver in our goal was in outstanding form with 7 saves which kept us in the tie, well played Steve.
Next we were at home to Andrew's Portland Timbers, another really good side packed with quality players and always fighting for the silverware, we opted for a 4-2-4 early ball as they went for a 4-2-4 normal, game on and they started quickly and opened the scoring on 6 minutes when Perez headed home 0-1,from then on defences ruled and closed down all attacks before they could develop, 2nd half and Portland changed tact to stall on 60 minutes to close out the game ,we just outshot them 6 to 2 but could not break down a stubborn defence, Webb in their goal was in outstanding form with 4 saves ,well played Andrew.
So 1 point from 3 games not looking good and we will focus all our attention to the league.
So we are off and running in the cup and our 1st game in our mini league was at home to Jason's Carolina, a quality side who will be banging on the door in both cups and the league this season I believe, we have a mountain to climb this season our T11 is fairly low and our T17 is nothing to shout about, so it will come down to tactics and squad rotation to keep the side fresh,,both sides opting for a 4-2-4 early ball, but with a strict ref no side had any players on aggressive tactics, both sides started well and enjoyed lots of possession and they opened the scoring on 27 minutes when Kendall slotted home 0-1,half time came and subs on ,we started the 2nd half quicker and levelled things up on 47 minutes when Perriera fired home 1-1,56 minutes and they had their noses back in front when Kendall fired home his 2nd 1-2,62 minutes and a quick break saw Valencia cut inside and rifled home from an acute angle 2-2,we outplayed them for periods and outshot them 15 to 7 ,but Turner as usual in their goal was in outstanding form with 11 saves, well played Jason.
