DEE got paid for what he did, and I could say even the initial payment should have been made next Saturday as clearly the blog came after my deadline for yesterday.

But I will check out all those who haven't been fully paid to see if they have been improved and those who blog as of now to say they have done ALL the updates, and next Saturday's payout will be the final - BLOG here and if it shows a Friday you are in with a shout. We won't have any nonsense about time zones etc as I have given more than enough notices. It is 200k for little work, so keep it between the blogs and me, and nobody else, please?   :-)

As suggested, I re-read DEE recent posts to fact check, and I conclude when DEE first blogged "bio AND team info update" he make a mistake as that wasn't true.

DEE later blogged they "should clearly be DEE (200)" but this was also a misrepresentation as only 100k was due. 

DEE then changed his bio the next day to perhaps try cover his earlier blogs up. 

DEE has not disputed he altered and expanded and updated bio after payments made. 

DEE has understandably asked that we drop this topic.

DEE bio mentioned about cup double last night, but that may have been from previous season as DEE have now won two cups in both the last 2 seasons.

Season 60 promises to be a terrific season and extremely competitive especially in Division 2 where there are 10 different teams compared to last season.....totally impossible to predict and very hard to achieve promotion as things stand.

Trade window would not have opened until all pre season orders had been completed (by the deadline noted on front page) in previous seasons. 

Except this season for first time trade window remained open, so wasn't such a big issue.

I haven't seen an explicit deadline for the preseason orders.
If so, there is just the implicit deadline of the 1st match - which has yet to pass.
Mark might not like pressing the preseason button again in fear of technical side effects.
So just apply the orders manually, easily done.

If there was a deadline, Colin has likely violated it.

After the doom and gloom for Ayr last season in Division 2 i decided to rid it from my system by writing about it and it lifted last season from my memory :)

Also an appeal to please let Colin do his preseason,else a silly oversight messes up his whole season for no good reason.

The offer of CP is very much appreciated. However, all that is required is for the Commish to switch on preseason.

Once on it has an automatic swith off which has clearly passed and preseason is now unavailable but it is not a deadline.

The deadline of yesterday was a joke from John.

It's unlikely all other 47 managers all guessed.

Agree - I would leave off the bonus. Will make it easier to calculate out for various possible opponent tactics if I don't need to first remove the 20% and then adjust to see how it would perform vs press, stall, etc. I think if you're using 'c' then you probably are already used to knowing how the numbers will adjust beyond what is shown on that preview screen

A couple of managers over in SFLSL have suggested I leave off the 20% bonus and let managers work it out for themselves. Happy to do so here and in OASL unless there's a big wish to keep it as it is.

GK aggression difference from n is also not reflected in GP.

I've been tinkering around on the site and have made the following updates:

1. Fixed a bug where when Player Tactics was loaded (for instance after a save tactics) the wrong defender was loaded into your 2nd marker. This was a problem if you just altered something like CP and didn't notice before saving.

2. In Features->Parameters->Tactics I swapped the DF and SW column headers for GP to their correct positions.

3. Removed the ODFL and SOS Cup tabs at the top of each page.

4. Changed Golden Gloves calculations to a simple percentage. Minimum number of shots faced is 50, and 30 for Young Gloves.

5. On the Lineup Page the approximate numbers for the 8 tactics didn't reflect the actual values for some tactics.

I've made some assumptions: number of WG+FWs for stall and ball control = 2, for longball and early cross = 4 and for the rest = 3. An SL 30 WG will add/subtract 1.5 per player if different from these.

For ball control I've assumed 2 extra MFs. For OTF of 10 there's a 6.25 difference per MF.

For counter attack I've increased OFF by 20% as if playing normal or counter attack.

Home bonus and Morale are still not included as I don't know how to look them up.

30 shots faced sound good for young ones, although a 0/5 GK may face alot of shots early in their career!

Mark is happy with me to go ahead with this with something like 50 shots faced (I thought 30 for Young gloves).

The only problem (if it's considered one) is that the table will be blank until the first keeper faces 50 shots. This also means that a good defensive team might not have a keeper eligible for a while and suddenly appear at the top.

Assuming that the season follows the same pattern as usual, the dates for the prediction league will be as shown in the table.

I am not planning to change the rules at all.

May be your device or browser William that is blocking the option.  

I tested this minute on Microsoft Edge and Brave browser, and it works after "update info" and then UPDATE TEAM NEEDS is the 3rd box down.

Try it on your phone or ipad or laptop or basially a different device and test if it works. 
I dont think you missing out on much though as the feature appears just cosmetic.

Steve, yes, sound like my shot in the dark was way off.  Maybe 60 is more like it...no of league matches x 2...?

Looking at SFLSL there are GKs from the top teams that haven't faced that many shots (OPT's was only 61 I think) and they play 26 league games over there to 30 here. And it is only league games that are counted.

MotM however counts all competitions for some reason.

Agree that the qualification for this should be fairly high.  Maybe 100 shots faced over the season?  That would be an average of about 4 shots per game assuming the geeper plays in 2/3 of matches.

Falkirk have updated their season 60 bios.

I think that a simple 'Shot saved %age' seems the logical way to go imho.

As for the 'Minimum' qualification criteria...that is probably left to more qualified judges than me to debate and decide, but i would suggest that it should be on the stricter side to avoid the 'freak' tiny handful of performances that do happen even with lower SL GKs who only play a small percentage of games compared to the better GKs and can therefore effect a fairer outcome which is surely what we are all after ?

At the end of the day, i am sure that the SESL hierarchy will come to a very sensible solution...with  perhaps a little help and several opinions lol.

I would read the recent poll that 6 out of 48 teams went with maintain the status quo 😁

Joking aside, 22 out of 28 who voted acknowledged there was a flaw in current criteria for golden gloves.

78% is a huge majority to change it. Steam ahead Steve.

I've found the code for Golden Gloves and changed it on SFLSL for the SFLSL Cup only. It's a simple shotssaved/shotsfaced percenage.

Each league has a different code for this so SESL could go for Save% and other leages have their own rule.

And I can change it to a minimum number of shots faced.

This is not quite true. If I come 4th and play the 5th team then the revenue for next season will be the same regardless of which team came 4th or 5th as the Morale is combined. The advantage of Div One is that you get to play the MOTs and DEEs of the world and I will get a small share of their higher revenue. Andrew's calculation does not take this into account.

Div 1 manager of season was a toss up between MOT & DEE.   So big respect to Eduards achievements.

John - it's a good question, and one that I've seen two managers work out the answer to and successfully follow up on over the past 10 seasons or so. Stewart at RAN and Eduard at DEE both saw the math or it and were able to build sides strong enough to take advantage.

You can debate the glory of winning cups vs titles, but from a financial perspective it's not remotely close:

• The only way to get to max morale bonus is through making cup finals. Getting 4th place and being runner up in one cup gets you the same bonus as winning the league. Getting 5th place and winning a cup gets you more than 1st place in the league. Winning both cups means you only need 6th place in the league to get max morale bonus. Max bonus is worth, on average, 27k per match. If you play 30 league games and 19 cup games, that's 1,323k per season. HB on 0.2 (just winning the league) will get you 441k less in those same fixtures.
• I mentioned those 19 cup matches, but that's the max for a division 1 team if they make both finals. If you just make the QFs like MOT did last season, that's 5 fewer matches, which is well over 500k in lost revenue. Whether you get 16th or 1st place in the league, you still play 30 matches. If you falter in the cup...that's a big chunk of lost revenue.
• Ignoring all other factors (like actual morale) and just thinking about morale bonus and fixtures, the difference between having max morale bonus and making both cup finals and having no morale bonus and getting knocked out early in both cups (7 matches instead of 19)...that's over 2,500k difference in revenue. So - building your foundation on maximizing morale bonus and maximizing fixtures is always a sound way to run a SESL club.

With Eduard also very active (I believe he was 2nd most participation last season), he has his team very smartly set up for long term success. The only way to "attack" him from a financial perspective is going to be to knock him out of cups when you get the chance. From my perspective, winning cups (or at least making cup finals) is the #1 way to ensure long-term success in SESL.

Queen of the South are happy to announce two new signings for the rebuild: Stephen McKenna (MF, 0/5) and Stephen Dobbie (WG, 1/14 Bosman). These names are not random — both are real legends of the club.

Stephen McKenna played in midfield for QOS from 2008 until 2015, and made more than 200 games for the club. In SESL his “new version” joins as a young prospect, with the hope to grow into the same kind of important player for the team.

Stephen Dobbie is maybe the biggest legend of Palmerston. In four different periods he scored more than 100 goals and was part of the best times in modern club history, including cup finals and promotion. In SESL he comes in as a winger, giving more balance to the squad and also a link to the tradition.

For QOS it is a nice combination: honour the past, but also build for the future. The target stays the same — keep Division 2 status and slowly make a stronger core of players for the next years.

Dee are just way ahead of everyone else.

Eduard is just doing everything better than the rest of us.

He also puts a lot of time into trying to trade himself to a stronger position.

New target needs to be runner up to DEE whilst this continues.

With zero research, I would say this is already the case David, that referees performance reflect their attributes.

I see teams play dirty when there is a strict ref.  Those teams may, or may not, top the DP charts!

Had a thought whilst we are waiting for the start. Is there an opportunity to make referees performance reflect their attributes.

It would be worth looking at future referees covering your matches if it was likely they would be actually act loose or strong etc - heck, I might even take them seriously and my DPs would drop. Maybe..🤔🤔

Whilst I agree the DP one should be dropped (despite the fact I am the one who would benefit the most, but it would screw the figures), I do like John's idea to have one player swapping positions for a fee.

i know some lads hate changes but an idea like this (mid term perk) would be evaluated at the season end. 

It will take cash out of the game (as I have just put 1500k into it with the payments for the POTS scheme).

The following teams receive Cup Draw Participation through cecil cup draw:

Some very interesting ideas but think we should only have a couple in this season just to see how they go.

Bringing in too many at once could be a mistake. Think game works fine as it is and always a little worried changes can create more problems than the good they do.

But happy to give a go if not to much work for GM.

How about:  a single SW DF MF WG or FW can change position to one of the other position. 

100k a pop for all divisions.

Can maybe do change up to 3 players at 3 times the cost.  Or make it one player only.

Age 5 increase SL +2 could be attractive to some teams.  Unlikey trade in payment would be higher, but if another occassional team can benefit from that then clever manager.

Lastly- PU +2 I would say no to.  A 2/38 becoming a 2/40 sounds scarey.

5 OTF for 200-600k

5 OTF costs 10 CP which is around 1000k plus maybe 125k in extra slots. Hardly taking cash out the game.

More I think about it the more I dislike these perks.

I really love the concept of these mid-season perks.

Obviously some more than others...The DPs is somewhat questionable in my opinion as is the EL, mainly due to the timing tbh.

Most of the others are down to personal preference if i am honest.

The OTF holds my attention mainly tbh but it would depend on the pricing if i am fair, i certainly understand  that Division 3 teams get a noticable reduction but it would be all about balance re DIVISIONS.

I like the idea, here are my notes:

1. Physio: whole team set to EL10.   D1, 600k D2, 400k D3, 200k - I like this one.  It needs to be expensive as it can really affect the competitiveness of a team.
2. Magician: all DP wiped to zero.  D1, 600k D2, 400k D3, 200k  - I don't think this one should be considered, if you play a or d you should live with the consequences.  (Then also the other issues with rewards and such).
3. Spains Juan Touch: add 5 OTF   D1, 500k D2, 400k D3, 300k - I like this one, while I don't use tactics where OTF is a big factor, I can see the value of this option.
4. Senior Citizen: all age 5+ players added 2SL after MSA. D1, 300k D2, 200k D3, 100k - A fan of this one.  Just make sure that it is balanced so you don't get all the money back on the cash for oldies trades.
5. Motivator: team morale increased to 0.9.   D1, 300k D2, 200k D3, 100k - Looks good (tbh, not sure how much this affects the game).
6. Social media advertising: double gate receipts for next 2 matches. D1, 200k D2, 150k D3, 100k  - I like this one too, also should be balanced so it is an investment that pays off.

I can think of one more idea:

7. PU: whole team reduced PU by 2.   D1, 600k D2, 400k D3, 200k.  This also needs to be expensive as it can greatly up a teams' SL levels.

A good exercise and something else for managers to consider at MSA time. Innovations are good and we don't have to buy one if we don't want to/can't afford one/isn't of any worth to us at the time.

I tend to agree with the 3 raising concerns on DP.

But what alternatives can be put forward?

Staff should be affordable to all with a 50k or 100k option.  Any manager claiming they cannot afford that at mid season is being short sighted to the obvious benefits.  eg double gate receipts.  

It can be like free money.

Just as betting on Cecil cup for mass majority was free money. 

Everyone can afford to turn 50k in to 150k with 10 seconds of effort with a cecil cup bet.

How would this affect the fair play award?

I think resetting EL to 10 is too powerful though 600k for Div 1 teams might be prohibitive. Definitely worth Div 3 teams trashing EL in league. Stephen @ Peterhead might jump at the chance, however.

David @ Hibs would love the DP one. 

Someone said the gate one is not worth it for Div 1 teams and definitely not if it has to be used straight away as the first games after MSA are SESL Cup without the 25k league bonus. Same for Div 2 mostly breaking even. Div 3 teams should all pick this if no other option looks good - instant profit.

Sounds reasonable overall.

The OTF interesting.  40 teams are sitting on 4 OTF or less and that is after awards from prediction league and manager of season OTF been added.   Suggests OTF very under utilised. 
10 OTF obviously the max, so may encourage those on 1 or 2 OTF to dabble with it.

Gate receipts one probably not for Div 1 teams, although as it will be first 2 games of sesl cup groups then a Div 3 manager playing 2 higher morale rated teams may well cash-in a windfall with double gate receipts.

Important there is an option for even the poorest teams.

And overall, a huge chunk of money could drain out the game, and the feeling from some is there too much money in Sesl already, so that could be a positive.  For some.

Personally for me being able to pay to remove DP doesn't feel in the spirit of the game.

Gents, payout has been made for those who entered the spirit of POTS. Player adjustments will be done tomorrow (or tonight if I am back in time). However I have to say that although 14 x 1st division sides and 10 x 2nd division sides took part, only 6 x 3rd division teams took advantage of the offer - those remaining in the 3rd division gain +3 either TP or CP to their named player, saving the club 300k approx. I can do no more. My relegation actually will give my lad a +2 instead of a +1 he was down for.

Mark - congrats on restarting the new season inside 3 days - must be a record. Well done there (also John @ Livingston possibly helped with his Blog detailing the prize winners..

And finally I haven't fully looked at Mark's half time offers for background staff, but initially I like the idea - although one or 2 of them might need their cost looking at. Will look tomorrow.
